A new start

Chapter 13

When I woke up Mark and Uncle Sean where building something.

"Good morning Demi," Mark said putting the hammer down. He walked over to me and gave me a huge hug.

"Good morning guys, can I help?"

"You can help me make breakfast." Uncle Sean said. He took me from Mark and we went into the kitchen. We made French toast and bacon, well Uncle Sean made it I just sat on the island.

"Mark!" I called, he came into the kitchen.

"Yes?"

"Is April coming home today?"

"I don't know."

"Good."

"Why?" He was so upset.

"Oh no I made you mad your gonna hurt me I'm sorry." I jumped off the island and ran in my room locking the door.

"Demi I'm not gonna hurt you please open the door."

"NO! That what you say to trick me to open the door!" Tears poured out of my eyes.

"Mark let me try, Miss. Demi, I promise I will not hurt you. Can you please open the door."

"You Promise?"

"I promise."

I walk to the door and unlock it, I don't open it I run and hide in the closet. I hear the door open and footsteps coming into the room.

"Honey I know you're scared but can you please come here so we can talk?"

I opened the door but I didn't move.

"Okay how about we talk right where we are. Why do you think Mark is going to hurt you?"

"Because I made him mad."

"Who said you made him mad?"

"I saw it in his eyes."

"What did you see?"

"Anger! He was gonna hit me."

"I know Mark can be mean but he would NEVER hit you."

"Really? Now he is going hate me because of what I just did." I started to cry again. I felt someone pick me up but I was crying too much to know who it was. 

"Honey I am not mad at you, everything is okay," Mark said holding me tight.

"Then why did you look at me like that."

"I was looking at the ground, honey."

"Really?" He started to play with my hair.

"It's okay honey, why don't you lie on the couch as we finish breakfast. I'll put some cartoons on for you." He kissed the top of my head and laid me on the couch.

"I'm sorry Mark."

"Everything is okay." He put a blanket on me.

After we ate Mark's phone went off.

"10 bucks it's April telling him to come get her." Uncle Sean said to me laughing.

Two weeks later

Uncle Sean was right, April wanted to come home. But she is still mean. Uncle Sean helped Mark build the rest of my things and my room is really cool! Mark had a talk with me on my flashbacks as he calls them and I have a therapy appointment next week. Mark said that today he is going to teach me how to write my name!

"Okay, little one Demi is spelled like this." He wrote my name on paper and helped me write it.

"D E M I There you go! Now keep writing it a few more times."

"Kk."

"Good job! Let's work on another word. Which word would you like?"

"Uncle Sean!"

"Okay U N C L E that spells uncle than his name. S E A N."

I wrote his name a few times

"MARK! I'm hungry!" April screamed.

"Did you want anything little one?"

"Can I have a sandwich?"

"Sure which kind?"

"Um, what's the bacon one?"

"A BLT?"

"Yes please!"

"MARK!"

"I heard you I'm cooking now."

Mark seems a little mad so I didn't say anything. I just kept writing my words.  As the bacon was cooking Mark handed me a sheet of paper.

"There are a few more words on here that I want you to write."

"Kk"

I looked at the paper but I didn't know any of the words.  I copied the words a bunch of times and my dinner was ready.

"Okay so let's read off the words that you wrote. Bunny, puppy, Chica, Jack, sandwich and Yoshi!"

"Oh, that's what those words are. Mark, I'm really tired can I go to bed after I eat?"

"After you eat you need to get a bath then you can little one."

"Kk."

I heard Mark and April fight again but I was too tired to listen to them. They always fight, I wish Mark was happier.
