Pitch Slapped

Chapter 4

''Alright guys,'' Beca called out to the Bellas, ''Let's welcome our two new girls, Rachel and Skylynn!''. The girls all cheered and clapped, and Rachel and Skylynn waved and thanked them shyly. It was Thursday and they were gathered to start the weekly practices of the year before the riff off later that night. The riff off was the a capella event of the year in Barden Uni. All the campus groups would get together and compete to win some ridiculous prize. It was pretty good fun and there was always a crowd gathered to watch. Last year, the Treble Makers won but Beca was determined that the Bellas would win this year. 

''You guys are gonna leave it here on campus, and this group is definitely gonna be the highlight of it all,'' Beca winked, pulling out one of the only things they kept when Chloe and Aubrey left: the board. She pulled it out in front of the semi-circle where the girls were sitting and flipped it over to the dry-wipe side. 

''Alright guys, the riff off is tonight, so we need to get some practice in for that,'' she looked around at the other girls who seemed pretty pumped about the event. ''But first, we need to chose our theme for the ICCA's this year. We're gonna win this year, I know it. So, any suggestions?''.

A few girls shot their hands up in the air. Lilly was first to suggest something, which was sassy ladies like Beyonce and Christina Agulera. Fat Amy suggested remastered rap tunes from the likes of Nikki Minja, Iggy Azalea and others. Skylynn suggested a mix of all kinds of songs, like the one they performed at the finals last year. Most of the girls thought this was a great idea and they agreed that it would be a series of remixes of songs form all genres, new and old. 

''Okay guys, now that that's done, we need to practice for tonight. Sopranoes to the right, altoes to the left''. The girls arranged themselves accordingly and Becca called on Rachel to choose a song.

''Problem by Ariana Grande?,'' she said shyly. There was a series of nods of approval form the girls and they all got ready to start. Beca led them and began. 

''Oooooooh. Hey baby even though I hate you, I wanna love you,'' she sang loudly. 

''I want you ooh ooh uhwoooow,'' the sopranoes chorused. They carried on with Rachel taking the solo before the chorus (and absolutely shocking everyone with her big beautiful voice) and Beca remastering the rap in the middle. When they finished everyone cheered and hugged eachother.

''We sound great guys! We're gonna kill it tonight and in the ICCA's. I'm looking forward to an awesome year!''. She smiled around at the girls in the room and she truly was looking forward to working with them all for the year.
