chapter 1 ~new guy~

Caroline's pov

keep your head up Caroline, don't let them see you're hurting...don't let him see what he's done to you. If you have to, just ditch Elena and go hang out with Jake and Ben, my brothers. My brothers are my world, they are so nice and caring towards me. They know how to have fun, they are the popular boys of the school, the jocks and all that stuff. Ben is the man whore, sometimes jerk and party animal while Jake is the more quite and reserved one that likes to read and treats girls right but he still knows how to party. They are very over protective though. They chase off any guy that takes an interest in me which does get extremely annoying; but off course they chase away the good ones and the one time they don't chase away a boy is when he turns out to be a complete dickhead.

Yeah, that's right. The one time my brothers let a guy get close to me he turned out to be a bastard. I loved Tyler and I thought he loved me as well. We was going out for 2 years so I finally decided to give up my virginity to him. A few days ago, also a few days after I lost it, I found out that he had been cheating on me all along and he just wanted to steal my innocence as a bet, he never loved me. I haven't told anyone yet, they just think that we got in an argument and broke up, no one really knows the real reason. Let's just say that Tyler has ultimately destroyed me, broke me inside so I have to fake a smile, I don't think anyone will ever fill the gap he left in my heart and I don't think I will ever love another guy again.

I step out off my red Porsche convertible and clutch my bag to my side. I look up at the old building I call school and frown once more before plastering my fake smile over my face. You can do this Caroline, ignore him, don't let him see what he's done. I start walking towards the school with my head held high and a big fat fake smile on. As soon as I step through the doors everything looks normal. Elena and Emma are talking by our lockers, Ben's trying to chat up some poor innocent girl, Jake's talking to Kol and everything is just plain old normal, well at least to everyone else but to me its far from normal, it's all out of place. Everything's different now.

I start walking over to Elena and Emma as soon as they see me. Elena, Ben and Jake are the only ones that knows what really happened between me and Tyler. I trust  Elena with my life, we have been friends since we were born. Our dads are best friends so we basically grew up with each other. Emma joined this school 4 years ago, when we was all 15 or 14 and immediately connected with us, even though she is my other best friend I don't trust her as much as I trust Elena. once I reach them I smile at Emma which she returns and half smile at Elena which she returns.

"hey guys" I say with as much enthusiasm as possible. Emma doesn't seem to notice its fake but Elena gives me a sorry look.

"hey girly, right guess what" Emma squeals, I wait for her to tell me the answer which disappoints her when she frowns. Guess she was serious about the guessing part.

"what?" Elena asks, the aggravation clear in her tone. Emma roles her eyes at us then finally gets to telling us what it was we was suppose to guess.

"apparently there's this new British guy that's joining our school, and apparently he's super hot and super rich" this time I roll my eyes at her, so does Elena.

"I swear you only like guys for their money and looks Emma, there's much more to them than that" Elena lectures her but my thoughts drift off as I see Tyler walking through the doors with his mates, laughing as if nothing happened four days ago. I block out the argument going on between Elena and Emma and focus on Tyler's gorgeous smile that once had me like a love struck fool. He turns his head and his eyes meet mine, I don't bother turning away from him as he frowns then smirks, still holding eye contact with me. I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Elena waves her hand in front of my face and starts saying something to me.

"earth to Caroline" I shake my head and focus my eyes back on her. Her facial features clearly state that she was worried but as soon as she see's who I was looking at It drops from her face and becomes a scowl. Emma just looks from me to Elena in confusion then shrugs and walks off. Elena holds the top parts of my arms and looks me into the eyes.

"hey" she says trying to get my attention fully on her but I cant, my thoughts are all ways on him. "hey, Caroline listen to me" I try to focus on her and look her in the eyes. "ignore him, he's not worth it, he was a jerk for doing that to you OK, he's not worth it" she immediately stops talking when Tyler walks over to us with a big grin on his face. He leans his head closer to the two of us and whispers.

"can i join the gossip party" Elena scowls at him and I just stand there trying not to break down. He suddenly wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me away from Elena and makes me face him as he pulls his body close to his. My body just completely freezes, Elena looks at him in shock and he just smirks. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Ben's attention shift onto us.

"aw babe why didn't you text me yesterday, I missed you" I snap out of my frozen state and look at him in confusion.

"why would I text you, we broke up..." he plasters a fake hurt look on his face and places one hand over his heart pretending to be hurt but quickly places it back on my waist. I try to pull away from him but his grip tightens. I see Ben tell the girl something and walk over to Jake and whisper something in his ear making them both turn to us and scowl in confusion.

"now why would you say that baby" he leans in closer to me making my breath hitch in my throat. As soon as his lips touch mine I snap out of my confused state and try pulling back even more and hit my hands against his chest.

"get off of me Tyler" I manage to mumble against his lips. In a split seconds he's being pulled away from me by Ben and Jake. There's now a massive crowd around the four of us. Jake wraps me in his arms as I shake and try my best not to cry and Ben throws Tyler to the floor and jumps on top of him then starts throwing punches at his face. I turn my head and bury it into Jake's chest.

"don't ever fucking touch my little sister again you fucking prick." I hear Ben yell as Tyler just laughs, finding this all amusing. I lift my head from Jake's chest and look around at the people in the crowd. I stop looking when my eyes see an unfamiliar face near the back of the crowd, looking straight at me. Jake's arms loosen around me when Ben gets up and walks over to us. He pulls me into a hug, Jake letting go. I want to look at Tyler but my eyes are glued on the handsome stranger that's starring straight back at me. He scowls then turns around and starts walking away. I look back to Tyler as he starts getting up. He walks closer to us and immediately Jake and Ben are in front of me blocking me from him, I can still see his face though and he looks pissed and amused at the same time. His face in covered in blood and cuts, damn Ben done a good job. He points his finger at me and laughs while shaking his head from side to side slowly.

"this" he points between me and him. "is over when i say it's over" with that he spits blood out on the floor in front of Ben and Jake's feet, wipes his mouth then walks off, as does all of the crowd, mumbling under their breaths. I can feel my body shaking in fear as Ben and Jake pulls me into a big hug, Emma and Elena runs over to us with shocked and scared expressions.

"he wont touch you Caroline, just stay with us, you and your friends" Jake says. Everything goes blurry from my tears and my body shakes even more. I pull away from all of them and start walking down the hall, ignoring all of them telling me to come back. I just walk with my head down and tears continuously spilling down my face. As I turn a corner I collide with someone. I wait for the impact of the floor but it never comes. I slowly open my eyes and see the unfamiliar person holding me up by my arms. He smiles at me then speaks.

"hello love, I'm Klaus"
