Three months flew by, Maria's belly only grew, and so did the occasional pain she got. The babies inside her were draining her blood, slowly but surely, for their own existence, unaware of the plight of their mother.
Maria held strong, and whenever she got weak, they got her a doctor, and blood was transfused to her body. She never gave up on the little gems growing in her stomach, never once saw them as a parasite.
Caden was worried, but she always reassured him, with that smile of hers, and the words that spoke volumes of their future. The misunderstanding from the wedding day had been erased. But she was yet still to have a proper conversation with Alicia.
Days went by, each minute stretching to hours, but she had Caden by her side, and the presence of Bella always reassured her. She was amazing in how much she cared and all the things she did. Maria would've been lost on what to do, had it not been for Bella. She had always admired her, but never said it out loud, but nonetheless she was glad Bella was here. And then there was Adela too, Her cheerful presence could lift anyone's mood, even when you were half drained of blood.
The days turned to months, three months actually, and finally, the little gems inside her decided to come out, to the world. But it wasn't a pretty scene. Sweet and innocent like angels, the little babies had mean teeth. Maria had felt a sharp pain in her stomach, as if someone was chewing her from the inside. It was a fire situation. The small little gems turned predatory, and in desperation to leave, when they were fully grown babies, they started to make their own way out of their mother's stomach.
A piercing cry was heard, as the first baby was taken out of her. A baby boy, and soon after, another cry sounded IN the air. His sister, a baby girl.
The little babies were adorable, but sadly, Maria wasn't even conscious to greet her little darlings. But there was a small smile on her lips. Who knows, maybe she did hear their cry.
You could imagine what it must have been like for Maria. Sadly, she couldn't survive. The babies were taken out, but the damage done to her body was permanent. The doctors said there was nothing they could do to help. Caden raged, not knowing what to do. His soul then was that of a madman losing the love of his life. He couldn't even look at the kids, the precious little gems, that were crying.
Caden watched, as the rosy hue from Maria's cheek started to ebb away, becoming pale and deathlike. She had lost consciousness, but was still breathing, barely. Her pulse was weak, and she lay on the bed, as if an angel of death. A tiny smile sketched her lips, Her face serene, and her body starting to grow cold, from the loss of blood. The clothes she adorned were splattered with her own blood, but amidst all that, she still managed to look deathly beautiful.
Caden couldn't stand the sight of her like that. The life had been drained out of her. He didn't even recognize her essence anymore. She was still alive, but her life force was dripping away, as if from a slightly opened faucet. And, he found himself deciding something that he swore he wouldn't do.
He decided to turn his beloved.
Leaning in, his fangs extending, he came close to her neck, wavering for a few seconds, before he found his resolve again. He let his fangs sink into her sweet supple flesh, her blood washing down his throat, so sweet and irresistible, as her scent attacked his nose. He had to control himself. He had to make sure that he didn't kill her. But it was so hard, Her blood was so tempting. But somehow, he found the strength to pull away, just barely draining her of her own blood. He cut his palm, and let his blood drop down into her lips, making sure that they went down her throat, and when he made her drink enough, he turned away from her, and stared at the numerous machines in the room.
Adela, Alicia, Bella and his other siblings watched, watched as he did the most difficult thing he would ever do. Caden took a deep breath, as he fisted his hands, before opening them, and extended his hand, as his fingers curled around the black wires, running back to the power socket. Closing his eyes, holding back unshed tears, he pulled the wires. And like that, he cut off her life supporting machine, killing her in the process.
