A battlefield drenched in blood spread out before them. Six. Six people had decimated the army's forces in almost no time at all. A man with a claw for a hand, covered in pure white scales except for the blood dripping from it, his one hand stronger than any man. The second, a man with a leg coated in green scales, able to jump higher and farther than anybody else, as if he were flying. The third, a man with gold eyes more beautiful and more dangerous than any weapon out there. Able to paralyze the nerves of a man with merely a glance, yet also paralyzing to the wielder. The fourth man, not a warrior but a shield. Healing faster than wounds can be given, yellow scales protecting the more severe injuries while he heals. The fifth, a woman with fire bending to her will, her purple eyes see into the mind of her comrades and turn them into a unified fighting force. The final, sixth man. With hair the color of blood, men feared the sight of him on the battlefield.

The five dragon warriors and their king fought off wave after wave of attacks on the kingdom. Cutting down their enemies with powers and skill honed for the sole purpose of keeping their king safe.

After one of many bloody battles, the six warriors were home and overseeing a training session. The green and white dragons were not particularly patient with the slow learners. Yelling at the men who weren't grasping the techniques fast enough, the blue dragon simply ignored them while the yellow was quite timid and wouldn't be able to stop them anyway. The purple dragon eventually got fed up with the two men.

"Gu-En, Shu-ten, they don't have the same advantages physically as you do. A little patience and positive reinforcement go a long way." She snapped glaring down at the men.

"Come down here and say that to my face Nan!" The white dragon, Gu-En shouted up at her. The purple dragon, Nan stood and jumped from her perch above the arena. The purple dragon was the shortest of the five dragon warriors but she didn't let her small stature stop her from chewing out her brothers.

"You are a horrible teacher Gu-En, I don't know why they let you handle these sessions." She snarled in his face.

"You brat, I'll slash you to pieces." Gu-En snarled right back. He lifted his claw ready to rip her apart. Nan's eyes narrowed and suddenly Gu-En kneeled over clutching his head in agony.

"Do you even think before you act?" Nan asked shaking her head. She could do many things with the mental connection she had with the other dragons, that included the ability to incapacitate them if she had to.

"It's not fair you can mess with our heads but we can't feel the connection the other way around." The green dragons Shu-ten muttered unhappily.

"That's not my fault or my problem. We all have powers that the others don't and there's a reason for them." Nan said. Gu-En climbed back to his feet and sneered down at Nan.

"This session is over!" He bellowed, the men scattered not wanting to deal with the angry dragon.

"What happened this time?" All five dragons turned to see their king in his magnificent crimson robes. They all dropped to a knee in a bow.

"Highness, just a petty argument between Gu-En and Nan." The blue dragon Abi said quietly. Nan hissed at him but he just rolled his eyes.

"The dragon warriors should get along, the dragon warriors are brothers... and sisters in arms." The yellow dragon Zeno exclaimed.

"You hardly count as a warrior Zeno, you never fight." Shu-ten sneered. Zeno looked down ashamed.

"Shu-ten! Just because Zeno's powers aren't geared towards battle doesn't mean he's not one of us!" Nan shouted in anger.

"Enough, each of you is one of my dear dragon warriors. It does not matter what you do or not do on the battlefield, all that matters is what happens here in our home. We are a family and family's fight, whatever else happens we can work through together." The Crimson Dragon King, Hiryuu said to his dragon warriors kindly.

"Our dear king has gone senile," Gu-En muttered. The startled look on King Hiryuu's face had the five dragons in a fit of laughter. Just as he said no matter how much they fought and yelled at each other the five dragon warriors were linked by more than just their blood, they were linked by the primal incentive to keep the Crimson Dragon safe, no matter how many years pass or how many dragon warriors wield the power, they will forever be linked to this one common goal.
