I screamed again, the pain was a consuming flame as I, yet again, felt my nightmare slowly become a reality. My mother not a few feet away shook me awake saying "Ivy it's just a dream wake up!!"
I shuddered in remembrance of what I encountered in my dream. It was the same as every other night. My family disappearing right before my eyes, they slowly faded away into the emptiness of space. Always screaming in pain.
My mother knew nothing of the dream I couldn't speak about it without shuddering. The worst part of the dream was where everything was gone, just me. The realization of nothing, scared me. I could never really grasp the concept of my life, family, friends, everything, consumed into nothingness. As my mother looked at me. With tears in her eyes.
"Mom! I'm alright it's just a nightmare!" I said trying to assure my mother that I was fine. My brother walked across the hall, and opened my door and said "Sissy what's wrong?" he rubbed his eyes sleepily. "Bubby go back to sleep I'm fine don't worry about it. I love you."
"I love you too."
Mom looked at him and then back at me. She had an idea. "Peter do you wanna sleep in sissy's room?"
"YES!" Peter screamed.
"Well come in here."
He ran in my room with his spider-man pajamas on and his comforter. "Sissy can I sleep on the rocking chair?"
"No bub you'll hurt your back."
"Ok sissy then can I sleep on the floor in front if the tv?"
"Yes bub." I chuckle "Goodnight."
"Night sissy"
Mom leaves the room. I stay up until Peter goes to sleep. I sit up on my bed. My knees are propped up and my arms are wrapped around them. I look out the window.
"It's just a dream. It's just a dream."
I say as I rock myself back and forth with my feet.
