Chapter 6

"Stefan!" Caroline screams as she runs into the house. "Stefan this is important!" She yells louder.

"What?" Stefan asks. "Caroline what is it?"

"He knows." Was all she had to say and Stefan knew exactly what she was talking about. Caroline looks down at the ground tears stinging her eyes. Stefan led Caroline outside so Elena wouldn't hear their conversation.

"What happened?" Stefan asked. "I need to know everything." Stefan tells her.

"Ok so I went to the Grill to find Alaric and instead of finding Alaric I saw Klaus." She says. "and basically he just pissed me off and I um I uh...." she pauses "I just spilled ok." she looks down ashamed. "I screw everything up and now Klaus might find Elena and it's all because of me." Caroline's tears began to fall. Stefan tilted her head up and wiped the tears.

"Caroline it's ok. Does Klaus actually know where Elena is?" Stefan asked.

"No but he knows I know where she is and he told me he's going to just keep killing people until we hand her over." Caroline said trying to stop the tears from falling.

"Dammit!" Stefan yells and knocks a pot off it's stand. He was angry, angry that Klaus either gets Elena or Caroline will have to live with the guilt of people dying because she can't give up her best friend for the rest of her eternal life.

Damon walks outside. "What the hell is going on out here Elena keeps asking questions and she was going to come out. Do you know how much it takes for me to convince her to stay inside?" Damon says. He sees Caroline crying and the worry in Stefan's face. "What happened?" Damon asks seriously.

Caroline and Stefan just looked at each other. If Caroline told him he would surely kill her without hesitation. He's wanted her dead ever since she first became a vampire because of one little incident that occurred. She killed a man on accident of course but it still doesnt make it ok. They both knew that. So Stefan took the lead on this one.

"Damon, Klaus knows we know where to find Elena and he's threatening to keep killing people until we hand her over." Stefan says choosing his words carefully.

"So let him kill people. I don't care what he does or who he kills as long as Elena's safe with us I don't care what happens."

"But that's not right Damon you can't...."

"Don't tell me what I can and can't do blondie." Damon interrupts Caroline, glaring at her. "How did Klaus even find out we have her?" Damon asks still staring at Caroline. Caroline looks down.

"It was me ok I'm sorry he just pissed me off and I spilled. I'm sorry." Caroline fesses up ashamed.

"You're gonna be sorry." Damon says stepping closer to Caroline. Stefan puts his arm in front of Damon stopping him from moving any closer to Caroline.

"Damon don't." Stefan says in a harsh voice. Damon just looks at Stefan.

"Ok what the hell is going on out here and

why is everyone keeping secrets from me?" Elena asks getting annoyed with all the secrecy. She goes to walk out of the house but is stopped by the invisible barrier. She starts banging on the barrier.

"What the hell? Whats going on? Why can't I leave the house?" Elena looks up at Stefan.

"Sorry honey but this is for your own good." Damon says before Stefan had a chance to. Elena just glares at him.

"What do you mean it's for my own good? Ok enough with the secrets what's going on?" Elena asks. She looks at the three of them. "Tell me!" Elena demanded when no one answered her.

Stefan sighed. "Ok I think you deserve to know now."

"Ya I think I deserved to know a long time ago." Elena says. "What's going on?" She demanded again.

"Klaus is after you and the only way to protect you is keeping you inside that house." Stefan said.

"So you're just going to keep me here against my own free will?"

"Ya pretty much." Damon said without hesitation. "Anyway go back inside the big kids are talking."

"No I think I have a right to hear this." Elena said frustrated.

"No you really don't." Damon said turning back to Stefan.

"Damon knock it off she deserves to know the whole story." Stefan said coming to Elena's rescue. Elena smiled at Stefan then glared at Damon.

"Fine but when she goes and tries to get herself killed it's all on you." Damon said pointing and glaring at Stefan. "Ok so anyway I have a plan to get Klaus off our trail."

"What?" asks Caroline hopefully.

"Well since Klaus seems to fancy you.."

"He doesnt fancy me!" said Caroline disgusted.

"Well whatever you're the person he least hates in this town. So you're going to be the one who distracts him and tries to make him forget about you knowing where Elena is."

"Oh my god are you serious that's the worst plan ever!" Stefan said. Caroline starts giggling. "You seriously think he's just going to forget about Elena just because Caroline goes on a date with him?"

"Don't mock me brother. You'd be surprised what a guy would do to get a girl he loves." Damon said glancing over at Elena.
