She dreams at night of collar bones and thigh gaps
her ribs haunt her begging to stand out
her hip bones could use some more time in the spot light
and all the while she's quietly dying
at night they whispered to her what's wrong princess
rule over your kingdom of bones
she woke up at night she's still crying
no one notices unless you're pretty or dead
calmly she's smiling
the number below her feet is dropping and dropping
at school the girls they walk by
they laugh and point
why don't they like me?
I'm trying I'm trying can't they see I'm dying
she fades away into her dreams
She doesn't eat she's getting quite sick she's falling apart her kingdom of bones is collapsing
maybe a razor will take the pain away
a quiet distraction from the food she won't be eating
she wears red ribbons under her long sleeves
no one cares to think why she's wearing it in the middle of July
Oh princess you're like a butterfly changing changing
chaos in disguise
your twisted image this won't fix it
Princess won't wake
her kingdom is empty
her bones showed every last one and in that final attempt at beauty
she was buried
She dreamt at night of collar bones and thigh gaps
now the princess doesn't dream at all
