Arthur Pov.
I shouldn't have said anything I feel terrible now, it's been a couple hours and Merlin still hasn't looked away from the flames. It's like he's reliving the past, he has a faraway glint in his eyes. Like he's here but not at the same time. God, I'm such a horrible friend I should have shut up. As I was lost in my self guilt I didn't notice Merlin turn to me.

"Stop guilting yourself Arthur. It doesn't look good on you." He said startling me. I jumped and looked at him, he smirked a bit when he caught the jump. Oh that little prick. Wait what no, I'm supposed to be feeling guilty. No thoughts of getting back at him for that. Gaaaaah, why is it so hard to be nice to him like a normal friend. As if sensing my strange thoughts Merlin chuckled a little bit. I narrowed my eyes at him in an accusatory way.

"You should probably stop than too, it doesn't suit you either." I said after a little while. The others having heard what Merlin said shifted all there attention to our conversation.
"We were talking about you Arthur, not me." He said hastily. I rise an eyebrow at that.

"What happened to you being yourself now. Doesn't that include stopping your mega guilt trip?" I say, trying to lighten up the mood.

"Well I've always guilted myself. You just haven't noticed it until now." He explained. We sat in silence as we all the knights and I took in what he just said. Merlin sighs once more.

Merlin Pov.
"Just ask your questions Arthur I know you want to." I finally say. "Just not about the scar." I add as an afterthought. He looks dissappointed when I say that, well he can deal with it because I am not explaining that..... not yet.

"Merlin, can we ask questions too?" Elyan asks. It seems fair enough given that they probably have many questions too.

"Yes, but one at a time." I say, what am I thinking I'm going to be bombarded now. Leon raises his hand, I chuckle at that. It's pretty funny seeing a respected knight raise his hand like a child. I nod at him to go ahead and speak.

"Why did you come to Camelot of all places?" He asks. Huh, wasn't expecting that one. Thank you Leon for thinking about my sanity.

"The reason is the law." I grin misheivously, like when I'm going to propose a plan that to any one else would look like it would fail but exceeds beyond what it needs. Oh, I do miss making those plans that nearly got me and my knights killed.

"The law?" Elyan asks.

"Yes, the law." I say once more as if it's fact. That got me more confused looks from everyone except Arthur.

"Please elaborate for them Merlin." Arthur said.

"You ruin all my fun." I pout, he gives me a look that says shut up."Fine. Okay, think of it like this, if you were a prince with magic where would no one look?" I ask them, after a few beats of silence, looks of realization dawned across their faces. "Camelot, its the perfect place. No one would think to look for me somewhere where I would be put to death for just being born.......... why would any sane magic wielder go somewhere that inevitably leads you to your own death, hence the reason I came here."

"So what your saying is you went to a kingdom that would kill you because of your magic, while hiding from another kingdom trying to kill you for being a prince?" Lancelot asked.

"Finally, now you lot are catching on." I sigh exaggeratedly.

"You traded one danger for a slightly less dangerous danger, that kind of makes sense-ish." Gwaine said. The others nod in agreement. Great now we're back to awkward silence, I hope some one breaks it before I have to. After a couple more minutes of awkwardness Arthur breaks the silence.

"How did your kingdom fall? The history books are never the same on what actually happened." he asked, before I can even open my mouth to answer him Gwaine beats me to it.

"His bastard of an Uncle, Blaxton, betrayed the Royal family." He spat angrily.

"Is that true Merlin, your own Uncle?" Arthur asked. I looked at him and smiled sadly.

"Yes, it was my Uncle who betrayed us. His soldiers attacked in the Middle of the night, using tunnels only my father's most trusted knew of. I was in my quarters asleep when the chimes of the warning bells woke me. I got up and put my armor on as quickly as I could, grabbed my sword and left toward the throne room. Blood was staining the halls in crimson. The sounds of battle echoing throughout the castle." I paused and started to tear up.

"Merlin you don't need to tell us if you don't want to." Leon said gently, I shook my head.

"No, no it's alright you guys wanted to know about my scar right?" They all nodded yes. "When I fought my way to the throne room with a few of best knights and friends. The room was a battle field of its own with fighting everywhere. In the middle of the room I saw my father and Blaxton dueling. I fought to the middle and was side by side with my father fighting him. I- I wasn't paying attention when a soldier came up behind me. My father saw him and quickly cut him down but, but due to my own carelessness..... It left my father's back open to Blaxton. He took this opportunity and stabbed him. He then turned to me and attacked. I did my best and fought with all my will. Using magic and my sword but it wasn't enough to stop him and the other soldiers coming at me from all angles. I was trying to finished one off and turned back just in time to duck far enough back that Blaxton's blade only cut my face, instead of chop it in half. We were losing, with our King dead and us being badly outnumbered I used my magic to create a barrier between us and the enemy. It gave us just enough time to get out of the citadel and into the forest. My knights got my mother out before hand and we met her there. We agreed that she would go to Ealdor  her old village and that I would go to live with Guias in Camelot. In order for us to have a chance at getting the kingdom back my mother and myself had to be kept safe." I was crying at the end of my story. They all looked so sad and awed at my tale.

"Merlin....."
