Severus
Walking through the corridor on my way to get the letters from Roth, I see her walking inside my office so I step in behind her. She probably couldn't find the stairs, so she tried every door until she stumbled upon my owl.
"Miss Frost." I say and she screams as she didn't know I was there. She falls and stares at me, panting. I raise an eyebrow and whistle short. Roth reacts immediately and flies over, dropping the letter for me to catch it.
Still looking at her, I open the letter. Just as I expected it's Elizabeth's acceptance letter into Hogwarts. So after reading it quickly to check if there is nothing inside that could leave her a hint that I'm her father, I hand it over to her. Her hand is shaking when she grabs it. She doesn't read the letter, so I guess there's something else bothering her.
"I'm.. I'm sorry," she says, "I didn't mean to come in here, I couldn't find the stairs.."
Still looking at her I put out a hand, so that I can help her up. With a moment of doubt, she takes it.
"Come." I say, before turning and walking down the corridor. I hear her running behind me and I smile, because she's having trouble to keep up with me so I slow down just a bit. Before stopping completely, she lets out a small yelp as she almost runs into me. I take a step back and look at her when she notices the sign on the door. She blushes, fidgeting with her hands.
Stepping through the door, I hear her take in a breath and mutter 'Wow..' so I stop taking in the place as well.
I guess it's a nice hallway.. I start to walk down the stairs expecting her to follow but when I look back, she's still looking around with her big black eyes. I let out a cough and continue going down and into the dining room.
I then sit myself down on the head of the table, even for me it's a change now that there are two plates set. I grab this morning's newspaper and start to read. Not much later she walks in very quiet, trying not to make a sound. She sits herself down in the chair but is having trouble placing it back. I guess they are quite heavy, She looks at me and again she's blushing furiously. I mutter a spell so that the chair moves itself back into place.
I'm reading again when I hear her moving again, she sitting in the chair but pulling her legs underneath her so that she is sitting higher. I add that to the list of things I need to change: higher chair or cushion to sit on.
I can feel her eyes on me as she studies me and then all of a sudden she speaks up.
"The pictures, there moving.."
I look at her momentarily forgetting she doesn't know anything of the wizarding world, before looking back at the newspaper.
She then notices the letter I had given her earlier. After inspecting it thoroughly, she opens it. Her facial expressions say it all, one moment she's frowning then her eyes grow big and back to normal again. Before starting all over again, it's quite fascinating to be honest.
I'm counting down to when the first question is going to be asked.
"What do they mean, send an owl?" she asks, still staring confused at the letter.
"It's a way of sending letters." I answer, turning a page of my newspaper so I can hide that I'm actually looking at her.
"But I didn't send an owl.. and it's already august. Does that mean I'm not going?" She asks this with a tone in voice that I can only described as her secretly hoping she doesn't have to go.."
So I only answer with "No.." quite irritated that she would rather go home then be thought how to use magic.
Because I left my answer rather vague, she asks if I mean 'no, I'm not going or no, you're going'
I grunt "the latter"
She sighs disappointed, "But I can't go.. I don't have any of these things they ask for and I don't even have my own clothes.." she says frustrated, while staring at the letter and resting her chin on her hand.
I fold the newspaper and lay it aside. "Your clothes are expected to arrive soon and we are going to get school necessities tomorrow. Now eat."
She stares at the food that magically appeared on her plate and looks back at me before picking up a spoon and eating her oatmeal. We eat in silence but once in a while I look at her, still surprised that she's my daughter.
Finishing breakfast before her, I remove my plate from the table by a simple spell and take some paperwork I've to do before the school starts in two days. When she finishes, I also remove her plate and let a several boxes appear in front of her. Her eyes grow big when I say "Happy birthday, Elizabeth."
Still working on the papers, I notice that she still staring at her presents instead of opening them.
"Elizabeth? You may open your presents.."
She shakes her head, "I can't."
"And why is that?"
She looks at me with tears in her eyes and whispers, "I don't know.."
Then her little body falls on the ground before starting to shake terribly and by doing that she is starting an earthquake. She's making the whole house shake, breaking the windows and making the lights flash uncontrollably. I grab her, trying to calm her down but not being able to.. Therefor I cast a charm to stop everything from moving, including Elizabeth. "Arresto momentum!"
Putting my wand away and sit down next to her, "Elizabeth, can you hear me? Open your eyes.."
Slowly reacting to me, she opens her eyes. "Here drink this.. it will make you feel better." helping her sit up, I hand her a calming potion that will calm her down enough so she can stop the earthquake.
She drinks it and almost throws it up again because it doesn't taste very good. Waiting for it to take effect I stand up, putting the object that are hanging still back to their original places. After a while I ask her "how are you feeling?"
She nods, standing up again. "I'm sorry.."
I nod "Do you think you can stop the earthquake?"
She fidgets with her hands "I don't know how.."
"Concentrate on the earthquake, you need to feel it's hunger to destroy then you close your eyes and picture yourself pushing it back. Push it back in the ground.."
It takes a while before she gets it but then she successfully stop it and I can see in her eyes that she very proud of herself.
"Well done, Elizabeth." I sit myself down again. "If you think you can stay in control, you may open your presents.."
She sighs before sitting down again, "Stay calm.." She mutters. I smile at this. She takes the first one, carefully opening the wrapping paper and revealing a book. She looks at it strangely before opening it, it's a book with her childhood pictures but not just that, the pictures are moving. She takes a look through it, laughing with herself as she grows up.
I know Raven packed this so that I could see her grow up too. At the end it says, 'happy birthday, sweetheart!'
Closing it, she lays it aside and pulling the next box towards her. Before she can open it, a head pops up out of it.
"Marlow!" she says opening it quickly and taking the cat on her lap. The black cat is meowing happily while Elizabeth pets him. "I missed you, you silly cat!"
