It didn't quite feel right starting the festivities without you. Eh, soldier?" The man gave Ginoza a swift kick. His bald head reflected the midday as it peeked from behind the clouds.
"What is it you want? I asked promptly. "Surely there's a reason for all of this besides the fact that following the rules of the road isn't your strong suit." I relaxed my hands, lowering them to my sides. My eyes jumped from one man to the next, taking in their expressions and body language.
These aren't normal civilians. Their expressions are...disturbed. These men are mentally unstable yet their Crime Coefficients indicate no abnormalities.
"Why do we need a reason to do anything? Surely my Psycho-Pass more than justifies my actions here today." The man lit another cigarette as he talked.
"You can't honestly expect me to believe that you ambushed two MWPSB officers because you were having a dull morning." My voice was sharp and my eyes like knives.
"Clever girl," the man said, smiling. As I'm sure you are aware, Sibyl is the governing entity of our nation. Morality, crime, it's all determined by a Psycho-Pass. If you eliminate the only thing Sibyl cares about, well then nothing else matters, does it?" An evil grin grew where his lips once were.
"So by taking your Psycho-Pass out of the picture, you are free to do as you please, is that it? There has to be more that he's not telling me.
"You're thinking too small, sweetheart. Think big. Tokyo big." His smile disappeared as his tone grew serious. "People were meant to govern themselves. It's in our nature to assert our dominance over others. Not submit to a faulty system." The man opened his mouth into an 'O' shape and a ring of smoke appeared from the opening.
"What aren't you telling me?" I asked, growing impatient.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you that. All of this—his hand moved back and forth between the two of us—was just so I could get a better look at that pretty face of yours." He pulled back the slide on his weapon, chambering a round.
"Frankly, I'm a little disappointed. Bitches with short hair always turned me off," he groaned as he raised his gun to my head. Any parting words for me and the boys?"
I closed my eyes, ready to accept my fate.
"Beautiful." A low, stern voice boomed.
My eyes opened to see a towering man in a black fitted suit standing beside my executioner. He was easily over 190cm tall and looked like he could weigh as much as the ninja pig only he was clearly a solid mass of muscle. His hair caught the wind, tousling the alabaster strands that made up his bangs. Shimmering spheres of white-blue shone through the narrow slits that were his eyes. The razor edge of his jawline emphasized the stolid look on his face.
"Who the fu— —"
Before the man could finish his question, he was launched skyward by a powerful uppercut delivered by the mysterious intruder. A mangled mass of blood, teeth, and cigarette particles filled the air.
The rest of the men were far too slow. The first man having not yet hit the ground, the snowy-haired man glided fluidly to the next victim, this time delivering a titanic side kick to his knee before sending him flying back several meters with a bone-shattering roundhouse kick. By the time the third man was actually aware of what was happening, his assailant had already sealed his fate with a single front kick to the chest. I winced as I heard the man's ribs shattering.
Having finally realized that they were under attack by something out of a superhero film, two men opened fire on the lone stranger. However, he rendered a fourth victim unconscious before using his body as a shield, absorbing the hail of gunfire and then throwing the corpse into the two men as they reloaded.
