My hands fumbled with the door handle as I finally opened the large door. I spun out of the room and into the hallway, my feet pounding on the ground.
I knew there was no where for me to go, no where for me to hide, and he made that clear to me. I was wondering if the Moon Goddess would spare me mercy and let me disappear.
Those thoughts were consuming me as I rounded the corner, only to slam straight into someone. I felt my nose impact hard into the persons chest, a crack being heard loudly in my ears as I fell down onto the ground.
I groaned as I put my hand up to my nose, thick blood gushing out of it. The hot substance coated my hand quickly leaving it to drip onto my sweater and onto the floor.
"Shit," I mumbled. "I am so sorry, it won't happen again—"
My squinted eyes glanced up to see Mekhi staring down at me blankly, his glasses askew on his face. It hurt to look at him.
"I will take my leave," I said with my hand still pressed to my nose. I began to run again in the direction I had planned before. Mekhi was probably the last person who wanted to see me.
A hand clasped over my mouth and muscular arms pulled me into a room. It was a bedroom that was quite smaller then the one I was staying in and the overall design was different. While my room had an old rustic charm to it this one seemed plain, with bare white walls and an all black bed. The lights in the room didn't make it seem bright, it just made it look even more clean and sterile.
I was about to curse out Alpha Malum's name when the shuffling of feet came into my ear. I turned around, noticing that it wasn't him. It was Mekhi.
He looked different. His golden eyes didn't seem to shine and his hair was more unkept then usual. His posture, which was usually relaxed was up right and stuff. And his lips were cracked in areas that looked as if he had bitten into them with his canines.
"Mekhi..." I started, but I didn't continue my sentence due to him suddenly standing in front of me. He was faster then I remembered.
Mekhi's large hand came up to my face, removing my hand from my bloodied nose. He quietly inspected it, his fingers moving slowly around my cheeks and mouth. I yelped when he quickly used his nimble fingers to snap my nose back into place.
I stood there, staring at him as he walked to another door in the room. He disappeared for a second, but came back with a wet cloth in his hand.
"Mekhi, please listen—"
"Shhh," he whispered. Mekhi moved his hands back up my face. I watched as he move my hair away and began to carefully wipe away the blood from the lower part of my face. My finger nails scratched off the almost dried blood that coated my hand. I only did this to stop myself from staring at him because I feared that the man in front of me would shatter like a mirror if I looked at him for too long. I was hideous right now with the Alpha's Mark imprinted on my shoulder.
Mekhi must have noticed because after he finished wiping off my face he picked up my hand, doing slow circular motions on the palm of my hand.
"He forced it on me," I said. No response. "Mekhi, I am not Alpha Malum's mate. He forced this Mark onto me."
Mekhi looked up from my hand, his golden eyes studying me as I gave him a desperate, pleading look.
"How do I know you are telling me the truth?"
"Because Alpha Malum was not the one I kissed on the night of the masquerade ball. It was you."
His bottom lip trembled as he looked down at me, his eyes clouded in deep thought. He looked fragile, like a glass doll that was never touched. It was saddening. The cheesy smile and the glint in his eyes was gone because of me.
