"You guys got your homework done? Everything ready for school tomorrow?" My dad asks Greysen and I while taking a bite of his pork chop. "Not really feeling the homework tonight dad." I say on account of Grey and I. My dad shakes his head and ignores the comment about the homework. "Where are you guys going after school?" My dad asks. And Greysen responds, "Library or Jaryd's house I think. What time do you think you guys will be home tomorrrow? I need to talk to someone about getting some more of my things from my house." Grey asks rather quickly. He hates when the spot lights on him.My dad raises an eyebrow at him, "It's still a crime scene technically, but I can go in and get what you need?" He offers. "I just kind of wanted to see it again. My home ya know?" Greysen says with a shrug. His shoulders slump and I swear I can hear his heart breaking. "I might be able to get you in there for a few minutes. No longer than 30. But I'll most likely be able to work something out for you." My dad says looking at Grey and he begins to smile. "Thank you Mr. Parker. I'll never be able to show you how much I appreciate this. All of this. Really." Greysen says smiling his award winning smile. "You and your parents have been and will always be family to us, anything we can do we're going to do love." My mom says sincerely and she smiles at him warmly.
The rest of dinner goes by quietly and we all excuse our selves for the night. I go upstairs and shower, hoping the hot water will release some of the tension in my body. As hoped the water relieves my muscles but my mind is still racing. Who would attack Janice and Frank? Why would anyone want to kill Greysen's parents? None of it's made sense to me since I found Grey on the side of the road.
I leave the bathroom and head to my room. Senior year has just started for Greysen and I, and his parents have been gone for almost two months. It's August now and school just started but i know it hurts him to know he will be graduating without them there.
There's been a lot of speculation as to who could have committed such a crime, and with a town as small as ours word travels fast. People are coming up with so many explanations, since they were one of the wealthiest people in town automatically people go to business deal gone wrong. They ran the lumber mill and had many connections with people in town, plausible but not likely. They were to friendly to create enemies through business. Then there's the option of a robbery gone wrong, again based on their large amount of money. Seems more likely, but things like this don't happen in our small town. Then there's the option that Grey did it. Motive being he's a spoiled rich kid who wanted something from mommy and daddy that he couldn't have. Which is impossible and makes not sense. Greysen worked at the mill since he was able to at 16 and paid his own way through everything, everything he got was earned. He loved his parents and never expected anything without working for it.
Greysen wouldn't kill his family. And whoever put his name on the suspects list had to know that, but since he was the only survivor I guess they had to put him on there. His parents were murdered, he was shot and not even 48 hours later he was taken in for questioning. He was in a wheelchair from just having to get surgery. It was beyond me how they could question a 17 year old boy about the worst day of his life less than two days after every in his world was turned upside down.
At this point in my thinking I've begun to wear myself out and I'm tired. I lay my head down and I'm asleep within minutes, dreaming about a place where Greysen was happy again and I was the reason for it.
