Jax

After a long day of playing with the kids and having conversations with tons of people, a person can be exhausted by the time their head hits the pillow and that's exactly how I feel. My mom was, for the first time in months, home sitting on the couch watching some romance movie. She didn't even notice me as I walked through the front door. Oh well, it doesn't matter because eventually she will have no power at all and neither will my father. When I get to my room, I strip down to my boxers and climb into bed to fall asleep slowly.

{Morning}

The buzzing of my alarm clocks pries my eyes open. That is where my daily routine starts. Basketball shorts, tennis shoes, rocks at the window, dewy grass, Cal's smirk, and the lush trees start my day. Then Cal and I reach the pack house and play with the kids for a while. Half way through a game of telephone, Tom, my soon to be beta, comes out through the back door onto the patio.

"Good morning Jax!" He yells over the sound of whispering pines and the faint sound of a waterfall.

"Good morning Tom!" Standing up from the long line of children, I walk over to meet him.

"How was your morning run?" He asks stepping sideways to let me through the doors.

"Same as always. How's the pack?" I ask. I'm starting to get really anxious as the days tick by.

"Do you want honesty or lie?" He shyly asks shifting from foot to foot.

"Tom, you know the answer to that."

"Well, they aren't doing to well. There is depression leaking through every crevice, crack and cranny. There is a lot more arguing going on and the tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I think they are all just getting antsy waiting for you to become Alpha. The older wolves always say how they knew from day one that you would be the best Alpha this pack has ever had. So I would say they are really sick and tired of waiting." We walk up the stairs to start walking towards my fathers office.

"Well, only 22 more days." I say clapping my hand on his shoulder and squeezing tightly.

"Yes and they couldn't go any faster." He whispers under his breath.

"I agree. Well I better go see what my father is doing. See ya." I bid my good bye and start to walk away when Tom stops me.

"Oh, Jax, remember we have that new girl coming today?"

New girl? I don't remem- oh shit!

"Shit Tom! I forgot!! God dammit!" I needed to be here but my dumbass of a father can't do anything fucking right!

"Hey don't worry I can handle it Jax. I mean I am to be your beta. I'll handle it and you can meet her tomorrow."

God I love that Tom has my back.

"Thank you Tom." I say shaking his hand. I turn and walk to my father's office. I slowly open the door to find empty bottles everywhere and the faint smell of puke coming from somewhere and see my father sleeping on the couch.

God he is lazy.

"Father." I say walking toward him. No answer.

"Father." I say slightly louder. Still, no answer.

"Father." Now the frustration is starting to leak through my teeth.

"FATHER!!!"

"WHAT!! WHAT!! WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!" He screams bolting up and falling off the couch in the process.
