(Y/N)'s POV
Today was a grim day... for me at least. It was the day I need to find a husband since my father sadly died. I sighed as the bats went out to find some suitable men.
Lin Chung's POV
I was atop my bamboo staff, drawing something I saw on our last mission. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of squeaks. A bat came flying in.
"Hello First Squad!" It squeaked "The bat princess is looking for a suitable gentleman to marry after the tragic death of her father and former bat king."
"A bat?" Mighty Ray said, "What does she look like?" He asked
The bat pulled out a picture of their princess and placed it on the table.
My breath was taken away when I saw her. She had shiny (H/C) hair, large obsidian bat wings, smooth (S/C) skin, and large (E/C) eyes.
"Oh yowza!" Mighty Ray said, "She deserves nothing better than me! Mighty Ray!" Mighty Ray boasted.
Mystique Sonia's pet and hat, Yaksha, smacked Mighty Ray on the back of the head.
"As if banana brain! I think Lin Chung would make a good husband for her! I personally know the bat princess very well. She and Lin might get along well." Sonia smiled at me.
I blushed a tad and kept looking at the picture.
"Do not forget to bring a gift to the princess! It would be considered rude if you do not!" The bat squeaked before leaving
The bat didn't need to tell me that since I had already started working on a portrait for the beautiful princess.
(Y/N)'s POV
I was sitting, bored, in my throne. Soon I heard the familiar squeaks of my messenger bat, Vlad. I smiled as he flew in.
"Lovely bat princess! First Squad has agreed to come to see which one of their members would like to marry you!" He squeaked happily.
I blushed. I was a good friend of Mystique Sonia of first squad. I knew there was one man she had told me of who she thought would be my perfect husband.
(TIME SKIP CUZ I'M IN SCHOOL)
A few hours passed and my bats were getting me prepared for the arrival of First Squad. I had told them not to be heavy on my make up so they simply put some red lipstick and a bit of black eyeshadow. I simply sat and waited. The sound of treads sounded and I stood up waiting for them to come into view. Once they did, Sonia waved at me and I waved back.
I looked at First Squad. The first one to catch my eye was one with gray hair and a black outfit. He couldn't seem to take his eyes off me, same with me to him. Then I heard more treads. An ugly figure came around the corner, causing me to sneer.
"So, I heard that the lovely bat princess was seeking a husband!" His shrill voice yelled, making me cringe
"Yes I am. But not from the likes of you, High Roller." I growled
"Now my dear (Y/N) don't be like that!" He laughed
I looked over at the man. The corner of his lip turned up, making a slight scowl. I sighed as some trumpets sounded.
"Time to introduce our candidates!" Vlad said, flying onto my shoulder and pulling out a scroll.
"Lin Chung of First Squad!" Vlad squeaked.
The man with the black outfit stepped up, a canvas under his arm.
"Beautiful bat princess," he said, making me blush "I made this portrait of your beauty. Forgive me if I was not able to capture what beauty is right in front of me now." He smiled and showed me the canvas.
I gasped at the painting. It was so beautiful, I couldn't tell it was me in the picture.
"Oh, Lin Chung... It's beautiful. You captured so much more than what is in front of you." I smiled as the bats took the canvas to go hang it up somewhere.
"Princess," He started
"Just call me (Y/N)" I smiled, cutting him off
"(Y/N) ... Beautiful name for a beautiful girl... I think that seeing you in the flesh is better than any picture." He said
I blushed as all the bats 'awed'
"Oh, hush you all..." I smiled and they quickly died down.
Jumpy of First squad didn't want to compete, he just wanted to be there to say he was sorry for my loss and that I find a good husband. Mighty Ray of First squad was disqualified after presenting one of his bright red jackets to me and the bats considered it disrespectful. I smiled sadly as he went to go sit with Jumpy.
My smiled then faded when it was High Roller's turn. He presented me with comic books... causing him to be disqualified as well. Everyone applauded for Lin Chung, except for the salty High roller.
I blushed and smiled at Lin Chung. He had a light pink dusting his cheeks.
"Now princess, do not think you can just run off with Mr. Chung." Vlad squeaked teasingly.
"H-Hush Vlad..." I blushed more.
Vlad smiled and continued "Mr. Chung! You must pass at least 4 tests to prove that you are a worthy husband!" Vlad declared, making me look at him.
"The first test will be later tonight! You must sleep with the princess! To prove you will be able to be with her always, even in deep sleep!" He squeaked
"W-What?!" I gasped, most likely as red as a tomato. Lin had also turned red.
(Time skip)
I was pacing around my room, in merely a black tank top and dark purple pants. My (F/C) bed was across the room, a totally different color than bats are used to.
I heard a knock at my door. I ran over and opened it. There stood Lin Chung in just black pajama pants, making me blush.
"They told me to wear what I normally do to bed..." He said as a light pink dusted his cheeks.
"A-Alright..." I smiled and let him in
"Lovely bedroom you have..." He smiled
"Thank you..." I smiled back
We stood in awkward silence for a few moments. That is, until Lin broke it.
"It i-is getting late... want to head to bed...?" He asked, scratching his neck and taking his hat off.
I nodded and blushed.
"You know..." I said, boldly reaching up and playing with a lock of his hair "You look good without your hat..." I smiled.
Lin blushed and smiled "Thank you...(Y/N)." He said
I let his hair go and I got into bed. He bashfully followed behind me. He climbed into bed, facing me.
We both stared at each other, our faces a bright red.
Lin then slowly wrapped his arms around me, I blushed more as he pulled me close and rested his head on top of mine. I felt protected, safe, and loved. I soon nuzzled him, relaxed, and soon fell asleep.
Lin Chung's POV
I heard her breathing even out, I felt my cheeks heat up a bit. Was I really going to marry such a cute and beautiful woman...? I had already pinched myself... It wasn't a dream.
