Toni

Chad and I were sitting in his church office waiting for this Raquel girl and her fiancé to get here. I'm still kinda nervous about this whole process. Hopefully everything will go great and they'll get married and live happily ever after.

There was a knock on the door and Chad opened it. A young lady walked and she was gorgeous. I feel like I've seen her somewhere.

"Hi pastor, I'm sorry we're late. This is my fiancé Kenny." She said to Chad pointing to the man next to her. Chad shook his hand before bringing them my way.

"Toni this is Raquel and Kenny. Guys this is my wife Toni. She's also going to be counseling you." Chad introduced us.

Raquel smiled brightly, "Great. I was afraid I'd be outnumbered. Nice to meet you." She said shaking my hand.

"Same here...I'm sorry, but you just look so familiar." I said. She probably thought I was weird just staring at her.

"You've probably seen me on a few billboards or commercials. I'm a model."

"That must be it."

Suddenly a tall man stepped in front of me, "Hello Mrs. Evans, it's a pleasure to meet you." The Kenny guy said kissing my hand. He eyed me intensely. Not in a creepy way but in a way that he shouldn't.

"Same." I said before pulling my hand away. We took a seat; Chad and I on one couch and Raquel and Kenny on the opposite.

"So what exactly are you two hoping to gain from these sessions? Is there anything you feel like needs improvement or...?" Chad asked them.

"Well I want us to communicate more. Sometimes when we argue, he either shuts down or finds a way to evade the conversation. Nothing ever gets resolved." Raquel stated.

"I'm not a confrontational person and I don't like all the bickering and yelling." Kenny said.

Chad nodded, "Understandable. Raquel, have you tried maybe talking instead of arguing? Maybe, express your feelings in a calm manner."

"Is that what you two do?"

"No we're yellers." I joked earning a laugh from everyone. "No seriously, we talk and negotiate. That usually results in me getting my way."

"It's true, but in actuality marriage is all about compromise. Sometimes the man has to compromise more." Chad said. I gave him a look. I disagree with that statement.

"Okay, I guess we can give that a try." Raquel said looking from Kenny to Chad.

"What's wrong babe? You've been quiet since the session was over." Chad asked as we walked into our bedroom. I kicked my heels off and faced him.

"You really think you compromise more than I do?"

"Oh that."

"Yes that Chad. You made me sound so selfish!" I complained while sitting at my vanity and removing my jewelry.

"I did not. Besides, you're the one who said that you always get your way, which is true." He exclaimed.

"That's only with small things! All the big stuff is you."

"Not everything." He said.

I whipped my head around, "Really?! You're bringing that up now?!"

"Just forget it Toni. I don't want to fight tonight." He said going into the bathroom and turning on the shower.

I sat on the bed with my arms folded and waited for him to come out. As I was doing so, his phone started ringing. I checked the caller ID and saw an unknown number. I don't know why but I answered it.

"Hello?"

"Mrs. Evans, it's Kenny." A soft yet deep voice answered back.

"Hi..."

"Did I call the wrong number or-"

"No, Chad is in the shower."

"Well I was calling because Raquel and I wanted to invite you guys out to dinner tomorrow night."

"Umm sure...that would be great."

"Good. Well you have a good night Mrs. Evans and I'll see you tomorrow."

We said our goodbyes and I hung up. I let out a breath as my mind wandered for what only felt like a few seconds before the bathroom door opened. My husband came out with an unreadable expression.

"Kenny called. He wanted us to joined him and Raquel for dinner tomorrow." I said.

"That's fine." He said removing the towel his waist.

Dear God, you're the real MVP.

"Chad, I'm sorry." I finally said after staring at his naked body for way too long.

"Don't be. You're right, you sacrifice a lot and I appreciate all of it." He said putting his boxers on. He came over and pecked my lips.

I smiled, "You know, I was thinking and maybe after this counseling stuff is over, we can go ahead and try for that baby." I said. I've been avoiding it because I'm scared. I heard the horror stories and I punked out.

However, I wouldn't mind having a baby and if I'm gonna go through that type of pain, it would definitely be for my husband.

"Toni no, you said several times you weren't ready and I don't want to push you into-"

"Stop. I'm ready now."

"Seriously?"

I nodded and he smiled. He picked me up and spun me around kissing me.

He pulled away and put his forehead to mine, "Who has the best wife ever?"

I pretended to think, "Umm...you?"

"That's right!" He said making me blush. I guess we're having a baby.
