Toni

I was waiting outside Chad's office while he finished his shirt meeting. Sister Jenkins walked up to me eyeing me down, "Toni, I see you chose a longer skirt this Sunday." She said.

"Sister Jenkins, it's never- I mean always a pleasure to see you." I said with a fake smile.

"Mmhmm. What do you plan on bringing to the bake sale this Saturday? We're raising money to replace the heater before winter hits."

"A bake sale?"

"Yes, that's when you bake things and sell it for money...kinda like what girls like you do with their bodies."

"You know what-"

"Sister Jenkins, I think they need you in the finance room." Faith interrupted.

"Okay. Toni, I'll put you down for drinks since you obviously can't cook. Be blessed."

She walked away and I rolled my eyes. She's a nuisance.

"I hate her. I know the Bible says you're supposed to love everyone, but that women is gonna make me break all Ten Commandments." I groaned. As Faith chuckled.

"She's not the most pleasant, but she'll grow on you."

"Like a fungus."

She chuckled again, "Anyway, I wanted to invite you to my engagement party."

"Oh wow I'd love to come. Why didn't you tell me?"

"Well Warren actually proposed last night and wants the party to be this weekend."

"Congratulations." I said hugging her.

"Thanks. I'll text you the details. See ya later."

"Bye."

CJ came up to me loosening his tie, "Ma, when are we leaving? I'm tired of hugging people."

"Soon, just sit tight." I told him.

"So I was thinking..."

"Is this another name for the baby that's not here yet?" I asked. He's been at this for two days.

"I was thinking for a girl we can name her Akemi. It's Japanese for bright and beautiful." He said.

"You speak Japanese?"

"No, I'm dating this Japanese chick named Keyoshi. You can call her YoYo like I do." He said rubbing his hands together.

"I'm not even gonna ask why."

"Good idea."

Soon Chad emerged from his office. Some tramp with a dress on shorter than mine came up to him all giggly. I walked over there to get a closer listen.

"Pastor Evans the sermon was amazing. You touched my heart..." she said touching his hand.

Chad let go, "Oh okay...thanks."
