chapter 5

Jake POV

Its been three months since I've been home. I've been working full time at the barber shop, a trade i got credited for in prison. One day i hope to open up my own shop. Shit been going good though the house is getting taken care of. Miko doing her thing. Everyone is happy.

I walked out the building after clocking out, feeling a little light headed. I thought i was just hungry until my nose started bleeding. The fuck? I never had nose bleeds so the shit was freaking me out. I grabbed on to the wall once I felt like I was about to faint.  I made it back in the shop just in time to fall on tile and not concrete.

Abe POV

I was sitting in homeroom even I heard Miko and my name over the PA system. Shit what if they knew about the drugs,but then again why would they call Miko too,if they knew... the teacher looked my way and dismissed me. Miko was standing in the front of the office pacing. "What's going on what happened?"I asked because her demeanor was not happy,and her pacing made me think the worst had happened. "We gotta go, Jake is in the hospital."She said finally looking up. "Come on, Ya'll lets go." I heard Kendrick say behind me. This Nigga stay ready.

Miko POV

We made it to the hospital. I cried the entire way there. We were gonna get bad news as soon as we walked in. I just knew it. We rushed through the halls, the bright colored pictures on the white walls zoomed past our heads creating a rainbow.

"What room is Jake Brown in? " I asked once I reached the desk. "213." the nurse wearing a bright pink scrub answered once she found his information in the computer. We all rushed down the hall to that room. Abe went in first, I followed him,and Kendrick followed me.

There was our brother in the bad all kinds of tubes sticking in and out of him. "Jake what happened? " I asked tying make it seem like I was fine. Before he could answer the doctor walked in. He wore a look of worry on his face and everyone noticed it.

"What's up" Jake said,"let me get my medicine so I can be up outta here." "Mr.Brown, i'm afraid that it's not so simple. We want keep you here so that we could run some test." Jake looked over at us. "Miko,y'all  go to the cafeteria for me, I hate this food." We all did what Jake did and left the room.

Jake POV

"Alright, tell me what's up?" The doctor sighed. "Mr.Brown, we have reason believe that you have Leukemia, that's why we need run some blood test make sure your white cells,red cells, and platelets are at a high enough level. Now if they aren't we want to start you on chemo as soon as possible. " I knew something was up. Maybe if I had come the doctor sooner I would have caught this. "ok. Whatever you need to do, i'm down." "Ok." The doctor walked out.

I can't tell them i'm dying I just came back. I'm gonna fight this, I'm not gone leave them alone again.

Miko, Kendrick,and Abe made it back to the room. She handed me some chicken strips and fries, then climbed in bed next me. "What happened Jakey?" she said in a lil baby voice. She put her head to my chest. "Nothing you know I'm a G, I just need to give some blood then I'll come home ok." She looked at me I guess, to look and see if I was being honest. I flashed a quick, fake, smile. "I'm good ya'll, i'm good." I said and they all threw on smiles around me.

Miko POV

We visited about another 2 hours at least until it was time to meet the younger kids at home. Kendrick drove us there. Since our kiss we haven't discussed dating. As far as I know he's taking to this big booty girl Vivian in our class. He was always where I needed him tho and I was okay with that. Besides I met  this guy one night when i was performing. He was a junior at another school but he had seen me perform several times and finally got the courage to speak to me one night. We weren't dating but we talked all the time and chilled together. I liked him.
