Jared couldn't help but feel as if his heart was actively trying to hurt him. It stung his chest and hung heavy in his chest as he stood in the room. Zoe and Alana were here as well as Jeremy and Michael. Heidi, Cynthia, Larry, everyone they knew was here preparing for the wedding or helping the groom. Evan, the man of his dreams, was that groom; yet he, painfully, was the best man.He bit his lip as he straightened his white on blue tuxedo shirt. The awkward friend had decided his side was to wear white and blue and Connors was black and blue. He kept fiddling with his white rose in the pocket, trying to let his thoughts calm, trying not to think of what was going to happen in 45 minutes.
The short man looked around the room everyone doing the finishing touches. Even though it sounds cliché it was absolutely breathtaking. His eyes started getting glossy as he excused himself outside to the stairs sitting down.
"H-hey mom d-do yo-you know where j-jared is?" Evan asked his mom. "I believe he went outside honey don't take too long" she said before he went outside sitting down next to his friend.
"What's wrong?" Evan asked looking at Jared with those soft blue grey eyes of his. "J-just getting emotional for my friend that's all" Jared said jokingly. Evan showed a small smile. His freckles almost looked like constellations on his cheeks. Jared shook his head trying to stop admiring him.
"Hey acorn, do you ever get that feeling where you could have done something to change the present?" Jared asked looking at the clouds "yeah.." Evan said confused as to why Jared was asking this "well I'm feeling that way and I honestly don't know what to do" Jared admitted
"We-well you only live one life..you either let it pass by o-or you step up and do something about it when you can. You can play it safe or latch onto the opportunity" Evan said. Jared nodded letting the thought sink in. "Come on we have a wedding to attend" Evan said getting up helping up Jared before they went inside.
Jared stood next to the altar. He did his job holding the rings till Evan requested them. Tears brewed in his eyes. Everyone thought it was just because he was getting emotional for his friend. But really he was watching him slip away. "Will anyone like to object speak now or forever hold your peace" the priest said
Evans words repeated in his head again
-well you only live one life..you either let it pass by o-or you step up and do something about it when you can. You can play it safe or latch onto the opportunity"
Jared raised his hand shakily.
"I object"
