Sorry about the long wait, this was entirely my fault. I just had a little bit of writer's block, but now I have it all figured out. Hopefully you have all been enjoying this story, I have really enjoyed writing it. Well, let's see what everyone thinks of this chapter then, right?

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

How many times in one day would I wake up feeling horrible? Hell, I didn’t even know if it had been one day yet! I was starting to regret being rescued from the SPA, I mean at least with them I had consistent meals, and if I didn’t keep trying to escape, I would probably have had less injuries. Although, now that I think about it, most of my injuries were probably not physical, if Askove’s word was anything to go by.

I could breathe now, the mask had disappeared during my brief period of unconsciousness. Of course, since I was unconscious, I didn’t know how long I was actually out for.

None of that actually worried me though. What worried me most was that Finn was gone.

“Where’s Finn?” I called out hoping that Askove would hear me and answer.

The panel slid open again to reveal Askove, the violent guy and Finn who was being supported by the violent one. I really needed better names for them. This whole ‘lock Eva up’ thing was stemming my creativity.

“Eva, you will complete the mission,” Askove said, smiling coldly.

“Like hell I will, you bastard!” I replied venomously.

He gave an almost imperceptible nod and then the guy had his gun against Finn’s head.

Oh shit.

“Are you sure, Eva?” Askove said silkily.

“Eva! Don’t do it,” Finn said croakily.

Without the slightest hesitation, the guy punched him straight in the stomach leaving Finn doubled over in pain.

“What does this mission entail, exactly?” I asked, hoping for some details. Maybe I could agree to do the mission, with Finn and then we could run off without completing it.

“Now we’re talking. Mainly just intelligence, really. Gathering information and passing it along our network back to me. You do this, and you’re free to go,”

Interesting. It didn’t seem dangerous, but then again, he could be lying. I was just about to open my mouth to refuse his offer when I saw the gun shift to Finn’s throat, his eyes widening in shock.

“I’ll do it. But Finn has to come too. I don’t trust you,” I said.

“Oh, but of course,” Askove agreed easily.

“When can we get out of here?” I asked, trying to mask the desperation in my voice.

“Well, I think you two should take advantage of our hospitality for one night to allow poor Finn some time to recover,”
