Chapter 10: Why?

Kaitlin's POV

"Come on! We have to keep going!" Claire yelled at me while we kept running

"You can't run forever" Ian growled as he chased us

"It's worth a long shot" I sighed and jumped up onto one of the cars parked on the side of the road and then jumped onto the passing truck

"Where are you going?!" Claire yelled at me

"I'm heading back" I stated and slid right into the back of the truck

Claire's POV

Why is she heading back?! That place is a deathtrap!

"Now you're coming with me" Ian chuckled and grabbed my wrist as he started to drag me back to their little abandoned church

"Why do you take orders from him?" I asked him quietly

"We have to or else we're forced. No matter what, he always has his finger wrapped around us and then we're his little puppets" He explained

"How are you forced?" I questioned

"His mind control powers" He stated

"Then what happened to that one cute boy? Um.. Preston?" I asked him

"He is trying to calm down in Quentin's office" Ian told me

So I would have to risk getting zapped and probed again just to see Preston? Wow life, douche much?

Britt's POV

Jerome was lying and I knew it. He isn't the best at it, as you can see

"I'm completely honest!" He claimed

"He is acting different. He won't let me out of his sight. Now, what did you do to him?" I questioned

"Fine. I may have somewhat brainwashed him to keep you safe." He confessed

"You did what?!" I yelled

"It's for your own good!" Jerome exclaimed

"You can't even trust me!" I shouted and stormed out of his room

Lizzie's POV

"You hungry?" Adam asked me while he wrapped his arm around my waist

"Little bit, but I should be fine" I told him

"If you insist" He shrugged as we kept walking. He was showing me around their little hideout and so far, it's creepy as hell

"Adam!" Mitch's voice came from behind us and we turned around, seeing him partially angry

"What?" Adam asked him

"What are you doing!" He exclaimed while pointing to Adam's arm around my waist

"Let me handle this" I told Adam as he let go. I walked right over to Mitch

"Care to explain?" Mitch asked me

"Adam's my brother" I explained

"W...Wait. He is?" He questioned in shock

I nodded slowly

"Sorry Lizzie" He apologized while looking over to Adam. "Sorry to you too"

"It's fine" Adam smiled

Ian's POV

I got out my phone and started calling him after I gave Claire back to Quentin

"Hello?" A voice asked

"It's me, Ian" I explained

"Oh ok, so are you and Jason ready?" The man asked

"We are. Tonight at 1:00 AM, right?" I questioned

"Right" He confirmed

"Alright. See you then" I told him and hung up. Everything was all going according to plan so far, and soon, me and Jason will be the leaders and not Jerome
