I COULD BARELY SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT.
It was a mix of inexplicable anxiety which had been formulating for almost weeks now, the thought of Olivia and, unsurprisingly, of Chase.
With the workload for A-levels building up and mocks approaching, I felt more overwhelmed than ever. It felt like everything I did revolved around exams, in lesson, in free periods, at home. I hadn't been in the piano room in two months, and usually that was my sanctuary. My anxiety was on overdrive. I was constantly on edge, constantly fidgeting, constantly feeling the need to take deep breaths in order to momentarily stop the strange, almost painful, feeling in my chest.
The anxiety was also physically exhausting. I lacked sleep as a direct consequence of it, and with my preexisting problems with food, my energy was at an all time low.
I was barely surviving.
Olivia was also constantly on my mind. She had decided to go ahead with an abortion, and honestly, I didn't blame her at all. She was working so hard to complete university, and having this pull her back was terrifying, but she couldn't let one mistake dictate her life. It turns out, however, getting an abortion was longer process than any of us had imagined. A couple of days after we confirmed she was pregnant, we took her to her GP who referred her to a nurse. She was asked a bunch of questions about her decision and whether she was sure she wanted to do it, to which she answered yes, of course. She was asked to do an ultrasound to, firstly confirm she was pregnant, but also find out exactly how far she was. She was seven weeks pregnant.
It had been two weeks since Tyler called me when I was in the bar, and Olivia had constantly been in and out of the hospital since then. She was asked to do blood tests and STD tests, was constantly asked to talk to nurses and professionals to guide her through it, was given a list of all possible procedures.
Turns out it wasn't as short of a procedure as I imagined it would be.
Tyler had told Ashley, who was scared at the start, but careful not to show her fear because she didn't want to scare Olivia more. She knew Olivia wasn't some type of girl who slept around, and she knew how much of a big decision an abortion was. And she was supportive throughout the entire thing.
