I watched in excitement as louis and her family inspected the large, 2-story, brick house.

They were all just staring at it, wide-eyed and filled of shock and surprise. I even think i saw a flash of adoration in Lou's mothers eyes.

5 minutes of the family gawking at the house had already passed, when the suspenseful silence we were in was suddenly broken.

"like it?" My mother questioned.

"Like it!?" Louis responded "we love it!" Her face lighting up in excitement.

"I-i don't know what to say" her mother spoke.

My mother walked up to Lou's mother with an encouraging smile on her face.

"Take it, i see your at a loss here and know about your money struggles. Paying rent wont be a problem and with a family like yours, you need the extra room" my mum reasoned in a calm tone, "please Anna".

Lou's mum and mine were best friends, like us, and would move mountains for each other, also like us, so my mum was glad to do such a grand gesture for her.

No words came out of Anna's mouth. A look of excitement crossed her face as she lunged at my mother and pulled her into a bear hug.

She suddenly burst out into tears of happiness and mumbled thank you's to my mother.

******

It was saturday morning and my family had offered to help out with transferring Lou and her familys' things to their new house.

"So, you excited?" I asked Lou.

"I honestly couldn't wish for anything better Bec, i still cant believe this is happening" she replied, her tone laced with gratefulness.

We continued carrying boxes from the moving trucks into the house.

It had been around an hour when my stomach grumbled loudly, and my mother suggested we go out for lunch.

Half to celebrate and half because preparing a meal would've taken too long.

******

We drove back to the house after our little lunch celebration.

When we had gotten there i spotted a familiar looking girl with long, curly brunette hair on the lawn of the house opposite Lou's.

She turned around and i recognised her immediately.

Oh no.

Amber.

Amber was bad news.

Before Lou came along in grade 2, Amber was my best friend. We laughed together, cried together and told secrets. Until one day when the wrong secret got out.

When Amber found out about my money she became hungry for it.

We were only in the middle of grade 1, but she was quick.

She would always beg for lunch money and make up excuses for why she didn't have any, and being that young and stupid, i would always give it to her.

It wasn't until my mother asked where all the money i was given was going that i told her about Amber.

She became furious and i had no idea why. She then explained to me about how she was using me and not to trust her.

A couple of days had passed of me not lending my money over to her and she was beginning to question why. I told her about what my mother had said and now she was furious.

She screamed at me and threw her food at my clothes. I screamed back, realising all the things she had done to me.

We were enemies from then on and she even moved schools. it was before Lou arrived and i thanked the gods for that, she would've told lies about me and made Lou hate me.

But now she was here.

Living across from the girl who i tried to protect her from.

This was bad.
