"you know they came looking for her the other day, i speak, my gaze travelling down to my fidgeting hands.  It's killing me that i can't tell her the truth scar"

"I know, me too, but we will tell them about it someday"

Scarlett, my best friend tells me reassuringly, placing one hand on top of mine, her tea in the other.

She never failed to make me feel like everything was going to be ok.

I called her as soon as Lou left for school.

"What do i do scar. I need to protect her from them, she can never find out about it, not until she's ready"

"All you need to do right now is pack your things and come live with us. For now at least. They're in year 9, its not long till they turn 15. "

i just sigh and nod my head slowly.

After a 10 minute walk, Lou and i finally made it home.

We had just made it into the lounge room when we spotted something "mom?" Lou spoke in surprise.

"Oh! Lou! Hello darling how was school?"

"It was normal, what are you doing here?"

"What! i'm not allowed to visit my friends anymore?" She laughed "Oh and Lou, when we go home i want you to start packing your stuff. Scarlett has let us stay here for the time being" she exclaimed.

"Oh that's great! Thank you so much Scarlett!!" Lou said, thankful "bye mum!" she said cheerfully as she bounded up the steps behind me.

"This is going to be so fun!! You can stay in my room with me!" i exclaimed, clapping my hands together.

******

It had been 2 weeks of Lou's family staying with us, and let me tell you, it has been the best.

My mums been happier because hey, who wouldn't when they wake up with their best friend.

Dads been feeling good too because theres finally another man in the house to watch the footy with and talk about guy stuff.

Lou's little brother is happy because he has found a new true love aka my xbox.

So recently, life's been treating our families well.

Except for one thing.

Amber

I thought when Lou moved, i wouldn't have to worry about her anymore, and i didn't. Not until Amber moved to our school coincidently, 3 days after her family came to live with us .

And what i was afraid would happen, had happened.

Amber and Lou have been talking a lot lately and you could say that they have reached that 'so are we friends now?' stage, and i can't tell her to stop talking to her. she would ask why, and  i'm not sure i want to tell her about the whole 'Amber story', not yet at least.

I watched the water drops slide down the window of my moms car as i tried to think of what to do about Amber and Lou.

But i couldn't think of anything.

'just tell her!'  the voice in my head kept repeating, but i didn't want to listen to it.

"Bec, were here." Lou tapped my shoulder, pulling me out of my thoughts

We ran through the rain to get to class with our hoodies pulled over our heads.

Lou and i stumbled through the door breathing heavily as Mr Shore turned to us "girls you are late..again.please take your seats and at least try and make an effort to be on time" he speaks, his voice holding no emotion.

It was not until then that i realised the whole class was staring at us with amusement. My cheeks flushed a bright pink and i pulled Lou along to take our seats

Unfortunately the only ones left were next to Amber.

We took our seats and Mr Shore continued his history lesson.

"A good tip is to use an alarm clock, its an app on your phone. If you even have a phone" Amber said sourly.

"Hey, what was that about!" Lou quickly defended me. "What happened to 'hey we should hang sometime? '?" she said accusingly.

"She hasn't told you yet." she said in surprise "Oh come on, how slow could she be" she spoke sassily.

"Shut up, Amber!" I said, about to explode.

We were quiet the rest of the lesson and Lou didn't seem to question me all day...until lunch.

I was about to take another bite of my chicken wrap when Lou spoke out of the blue "hey, back in history, what did Amber mean by 'she hasn't told you yet'?"

I decided i couldn't put it off any longer and with a sigh, i started my story.

i told her about us being best friends, to the money thing, then about her moving before Lou had got there.

"Thats the truth" i said, a little out of breath.

"so that's what was with the glaring when you guys first saw each other" she said

"how can someone who looks so Innocent be so cruel? but then again, maybe she's not" she spoke in a curious tone.

"i doubt it, now promise me Lou, that you won't speak to her ever again" i said emphasising the last word to show that i really meant it.

"I don't know Bec, maybe she has changed and only acts like that to you. When i first met her she seemed pretty nice, i wanna know how she really is now"

"I don't know about this Lou. I shouldn't be telling you what you can and can't do right now, but i feel like this is really risky" Fear for my dear best friend lacing in my voice.

"Im going to try. Maybe she'll open up to me and tell me why she did what she did to you."

"I don't think you should Lou, for your own safety. If i were you, i would keep my distance."

"i understand" she says hesitantly and i instantly felt relieved.

After 5 minutes of pure silence, i spot a figure walking up to us, i squinted my eyes to get a better look and instantly realised who it was.

Oh no.

"Hey girls"
