Everyone sat in silence for several minutes after I denounced my mother as the culprit behind the missing vial. Perhaps the information was the truth after all, just the truth that no one wanted to admit. My mother had been up to many things in the past few years while I was settling down with my family...or attempting to anyway.
"Alright," I finally announced, breaking the silence one and for all. Everyone in the room turned their attention towards me as I stood up, "I have decided on a course of action. Thank you for the warning, Envy, Regret. However I will take things from here on my own."
Regret was rather bothered by my choice, "A-are you sure? We can help you track this thing down! We have to find it!" Her emotions--her regrets--were starting to show through. Although I was the lesser of the two of us, she still felt like I was some lesser part of her that she wanted to protect. Figures just as much.
I nodded, "Yes, I have thought this through. I can do this, it's nothing too concerning, is it not? I indeed am not the lost humoncolus after all, we already know about me so I'm in no danger tracking it down by myself. Besides, my mother is more likely to find me to try to stop be from doing pretty much anything. So there you go, nothing to worry about." Envy seemed rather convinced, however Regret was moved enough from my speech to rest her case for protection. It wasn't long after that the two them left, in fear from running into me fighting my mother once again. It was only then after they were gone that we were able to discuss our plan in details.
Ed began the conversation, glaring at my still rather thin figure, "You are aware what that vial really is, right?"
I gave a single nod in reply, "I am aware. That's the rest of my incomplete stone. They want to merge them to make me an ally, a full one of them. I do sense the ill-will in their plans, however I have no doubt my mother did steal that vial. I do not know of her plans at this time, I only have a feeling we'll soon find out."
"Aren't you to become further soon as well, Éclair?" Ayumi asked of me, "I know Everlette is only six, and Eric is two...but wasn't it their plan for you to become further?"
"Yeah...I'm hoping they hold off a few more years. I want to come in possession of this vial first to get rid of it or something. I don't want them to have it...nor do I want my mother to have it either..."
"Mommy...what's this 'Vial'...?" Everlette had came out with her brother, and Ayumi's son. They had been playing upstairs, however came down when they heard the door close to investigate.
"It's nothing for you to worry about dear, the adults can handle this." Ayumi told the three.
I shook my head in protest, "No no, we're not keeping secrets from them. They deserve to know everything this cruel world has in store for me." I walked over to the children and sat down on the ground in front of them. "Remember how I showed you that cool birthmark I have?" I used my two right fingers to move my shirt slightly to reveal the obordos mark centered above my heart, right below the chest plate for my metal arm, "There used to be a stone below it, in my heart. But because it was taken from me, a new one is trying to form. The vial has the rest of the stone that's trying to form inside me."
"But if it was taken from you, don't you want a new one?"
"The stones are very bad for me, Ev...they make me stronger, they would make you stronger, but they turn you evil. You become obsessed with being the strongest...and instead destroy the world instead of being the hero like I am that saves the world."
"Oh please, you're no hero that's a lie." Ayumi sighed, "You're just a state alchemist soon to be further."
"And when mommy does become queen mommy's gonna save everyone! Right mommy?" Ev asked me.
