Cas and Dean took the road and to Castiel's joy, Dean did not speed through Michigan and into Indiana. But along the way, when the Impala was starting to run a bit low, and Cas and Dean were starting to get hungry, they stopped at a gas station which luckily had a Dairy Queen across the street. Once Dean filled up the Impala and paid for it they both crossed the street to the Dairy Queen.
"What is this place?", Cas ased a bit quietly.
Dean looked at him and scoffed. "You've never been to Dairy Queen?"
Cas nodded. "Never..."
Dean took Cas' wrist and pulled him to the counter where a tall young lady who had her red hair pulled back in a bun. She smiled at the two.
"Hello and welocome to Dairy Queen what would you two like?"
"Yeah, uh, hi. I'm gonna take Peanut Buster Parfait and an Oreo Blizzard for the kiddo in the biggest size you have." Dean said quickly with anticipation. Cas sputtered a bit trying to put in his own words, why that was not needed of Dean but stopped when he realized that no words can convince Dean that it was not okay to be childish.
Dean dragged Castiel to a booth in the corner.
"An Oreo Blizzard...?" Cas said as slowly as he possibly could.
"You mean the best thing this planet has to offer." Dean replied.
Cas nodded slowly.
The lady at the counter emerged from behind it and with their ice-cream.
"One Peanut Buster Parfait for sexy number one... and a Oreo Blizzard in 'our biggest size' for the adorable one." she said as she set them in front of them.
"Thanks." Dean said as he picked up one of the plastic red spoons from a small despenser on the wall next to booth they were at and tossed it to Castiel and took one for himself.
"Supper time." Dean snickered.
"It's only 12:30." Cas said a bit confused.
"Just fuel up on Oreos, Cas."
Cas nodded.
For about two minutes they didn't move. The air was just filled with akwardness and it left a sour taste in their mouths.
"So Cas what's your story?" Dean asked as he finally picked up his spoon to take some of his ice-cream.
"I don't write stories..."
"I mean your life Cas. Let's get to know each-other."
Cas gave an 'oh' of understanding.
"Well. I don't know where to start..."
"Start with family." Dean said.
"Okay. I'm the third youngest of nine siblings-"
"Whoah-whoah-whoah what? Nine siblings? Nine?" Dean said in complete and utter disbelief. Cas nodded. "Yeah. Nine."
"Anyway...", Cas said before Dean could continue, "My dad left when I was small and mom left us after he did..." Castiel took a moment before he continued. "And so my older siblings took care of us. Then we grew up and... what.. like six of them died? Yeah at least six and the others don't talk to me. Or to eachoth-"
"Wait how'd they all kick the bucket? I mean that can't be accidental for most of them to die like that!" Dean said quickly and rather loudly.
Cas glared at Dean. "Calm... down..." he said with force. Dean hesitated but did calm down after a thought. He really did want to know how it all happened though. But he thought he should ask later when Castiel was the happy Castiel and not this serious faced person in front of him now.
"I'll say, and only say that a grudge was held against us by an old enemy." for about a minute Cas looked out the window and for a second Dean could've sworn on a bible he saw Cas about to cry. Finally Castiel turned back towards him and continued, "I went to college, long live the Aggies, I had a degree in Medicine and went on to become a doctor. And I am. At Elkhart Genral I became a heart surgeon and still am. I'm single and I have myself, one of my brothers, his boyfriend, and Baby living with me and that's about it."
Dean nodded slowly. "Oh..."
Castiel finished his Blizzard and looked across the table at Dean and asked, "What about you Dean? You look like you have a story worth listening to."
