*MATT’S POV*

I felt really bad for leaving Lindsi, especially since she begged me to stay. I had to come up with a lie to tell Cam. I hate lying, but I need… no, I want to protect Lindsi. She doesn’t deserve to go through this anymore. She’s so sweet and innocent. I kept walking to Cam’s house, which was now only a block away. I’m sure that I have the perfect plan. I just need to think.

“Hey man.” I say, walking in the house. I was so nervous. I really hope this is going to work.

“Shut up. We need to talk.” He says angrily.

“Sure. What about?” I ask innocently.

“Don’t act dumb. You know what! About Lindsi!” He says as his voice gets louder.

“About that bitch? Why would we even talk about her?” I say, trying to play it by ear.

“You were at her fucking house!” He screams.

“No, you’ve got it all wrong! I followed her to see if she was talking shit about us! Then she caught me, so I was nice to her so she wouldn’t be suspicious! I swear!” I argue, hoping he’ll believe me.

“You’re such a liar! You knew Kaylee was coming over after school! You better leave as soon as you can!” He yells, hitting me across the face. I fall to the floor, as he walks into another room. God damn. I didn’t realize how hard he could hit. I look around while sitting on the ground and see a figure outside on the porch, coming towards the window. No, she shouldn’t be here! I can’t let Lindsi get hurt. She spots me and runs inside.

“Lindsi, get out of here! I don’t want you to get hurt!” I whisper to her, trying to get her to leave. She saw the bruises on my face and stared at me in shock.

“No! I’m not leaving you!” She says, helping me up. As we hug, Cameron walks back into the room. Serious shit is about to go down.

“What the fuck are you doing here?!” He says, getting close to her. She gives him dirty looks which makes him upset.

“I can be here if I want. I have a friend her.” She snaps, interlocking her arm with mine. Wow. Someone standing up to Cameron for me? That’s a first. All I could do was smile at her.

“Oh yeah? Well both of you can leave!” He says, pushing us both out the door into the dirt.

“Lindsi, are you okay?” I say helping her up before wiping dirt off of her. Just wait. Cameron will get what he deserves, and I’ll make sure of it.

“Don’t worry about me! Are you okay?” She says, worried.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine. No worries.” I say as I keep brushing dirt off her.

“Okay. Do you want to go back to my house and watch the rest of the movie?” She asks, smiling weakly. I just nod and take her hand in mine before walking back to her house. We get all cleaned up and cuddle under the blanket on her bed.

“Matt… I think I like you…” She says quietly, laying her head on my chest. All I could do was blush. I really felt like she was my girl. I want her to be my girl, but how do I ask her? Maybe I’ll set something up with Kaylee. Something Lindsi would LOVE.

“Yay! I’m happy!” I say brightly. After we got beat up, I lost the romance that I had before.

“I thought you’d be more romantic then that! I know we just got beat up, but it’ll be okay.” She smiles weakly. She’s right. We just have to stick together. I crashed my lips onto hers instantly. We kissed for a few seconds and then I pulled away. She just blushed and laid her head back on my chest.

“Romantic enough?” I wink before laughing.

“Yeah. My first kiss was perfect.” She winked. A little while later, she was asleep on my chest. Something I always wished would happen, but never did until now. I was happy. I hope I could make her happy. I need a romantic plan. I’ll figure something out. I wrapped my arms around her waist and drifted into a deep sleep.
