I was speechless, the note held so much information, it felt like my brain was about to explode. But, I didn't have time to waste. I did what my grandmother told me to do. I went to the mirror and muttered a spell that created fire in the palm of my hand. I kept my eyes on, well my eyes.
Lacey and I gasped at the exact same time as my eyes turned a gold color. I turned to Lacey with wide eyes, I couldn't believe what was going on. "You're a healer! This is so great!" Lacey yelled in excitement.
I shushed her and she covered her mouth and whispered an apology. I couldn't help but laugh at her. Suddenly I looked at her sadly. "Lace, read the letter and I am going to get the supplies my grandmother instructed me to get" I handed Lacey the letter and proceeded to the drawer my grandma told me to go into.
As I grabbed herbs and started to read over the spell I heard Lacey gasp. I looked over at Lacey, I could see her confusion. "I knew something was wrong but I just thought that Scott was stressed from work" Lacey was beating herself up and I could see it.
"Hey," I said softly as I laid my hand on her shoulder. "You did nothing wrong" I muttered softly.
A scary thought came into my head as Lacey started to help me with the potion. Scott was meant to keep the Piper's in on what our plans were. I looked at Lacey with wide eyes. "What's wrong?" worry laced Lacey's tone.
"Scott was a spy, the Piper's know what we are doing" both of us were silent as we listened to what was happening upstairs. I could hear footsteps.
We had just finished the potion, I quickly poured it into a vile and ran as quietly up the stairs as I could, making sure Lacey had made it up into my room with me and shut the door/bookshelf. I wiped the dust of all the shelves so the book that opened it wasn't out of place.
I threw the potion under my pillow as my bedroom door opened. Sara and my brother were at the other side. Sara in lead, I locked eyes with my brother and he looked at me with wide eyes. I could see that Sara forced him to come into here. "Hey girlies, what's up?" Sara's annoying voice rang out throughout my room.
I gave a fake smile, "Just talking and hanging out, actually we were just about to leave, I have to walk Lacey home" I gave a fake sad smile as I pushed past her and my brother.
I waited for everyone to be out of my room, I used a quick spell to make sure Sara wouldn't be able to get into my room. I was halfway down the hall when I realized what I had forgot.
"Shoot my phone! Stay here Lacey I gotta grab it from my room quick" I quickly ran to my bedroom, opened it, and stealthily grabbed the potion.
Shoving the potion into my pocket and waving my phone in the air to show Sara I had just gotten it, I closed and locked my door again. I rushed out of my house, yelling to my parents that I would be right back.
I was worried about my family, the Pike's were dangerous and my dad thought that they were friends. Lacey and I walked in a comfortable silence.
I didn't know what was going on in Lacey's head but I was freaking out. My family was in danger and I was the only one that could do anything about it. "I think we should get Lance first to make sure we can give Scott the potion, and we have to figure out a way to make him not suspect anything" I muttered to Lacey.
I could see Lacey nod out of the corner of my eye, she was beating herself up over the fact that Scott had been enchanted and the fact that she had no idea how long he had been. I could tell by how tense her body was. So, I did what I could and put my arm over her shoulder and gave the best encouraging speech I could muster up.
"The fact that you haven't noticed anything wrong with Scott isn't your fault Lace. Whatever they did was meant to keep him exactly the same as he was before. He probably doesn't even realize that he is a spy, Lance will help us bring him back" I gave her shoulder an encouraging squeeze and the best smile I could muster up.
I could tell she was trying to put on a brave face. But the smile and couple of tears she let slide let me know she was cracking. "Thank you" was all she said before a look of determination and anger that would stop the devil in his tracks made it's way onto her face.
"Sara has got a big storm coming if she thinks she can get away with what she did to Scott" I got kind of worried by the look that made its way onto her face.
But the look didn't stay long, a mischievous one took its place. "So how did your little study and plan making session go with Lance?"
I couldn't help the blood rushing to my cheeks as I look away and of course to the man of the hours house. "It went good, we are saving your boyfriend aren't we?" I tried to bring it back but she wasn't having any of it.
"Oh you two are my OTP!" Lacey squealed.
Of course those were the last words I heard when my world went black.
