Anju's POV
Rahul appeared disheartened as he shared about his brother and sister-in-law.
I offered my condolences, saying, "I am sorry."
Rahul responded with a muted acceptance, "It's Okay. Actually, Bhaii was my idol, and bhabhi was our pride. With them, everything seemed effortlessly perfect."
His face gradually brightened, pride evident in his eyes as he continued, "There was a time when everything was flawless. It was they who made it so. Bhaii managed everything at the office, earning respect from his employees. Dad took pride in him. When Bhaii collaborated with Bhabhi, our company soared to new heights and success. Even Mom admired Bhabhi for her adept management of both home and office. I used to envy Tanu, as Bhaii showered her with affection being the youngest."
We strolled amidst the college buildings, and I was completely engrossed in Rahul's narrative.
He continued, "We used to have fierce sibling rivalries, but those days were golden. Bhaii's marriage to Bhabhi marked the most beautiful day of our lives. I truly miss them. One fateful day, after an important meeting in Gurgaon, they met with an accident on their way back to Delhi. Their bodies were charred, and through blood samples and DNA, we identified them. That day altered our lives. Tanu and I matured overnight. Mom's health deteriorated, Dad took charge of the household and business, and I assisted him. Our glorious days turned grim."
He smiled, sadness lingering in his eyes.
I consoled him, saying, "It's Okay. Life is a tapestry of highs and lows. Every experience teaches us something valuable. You should follow your heart. Wherever your bhai and bhabhi are, they would be immensely proud to see you both thriving."
Rahul's POV
Anjali's words were uplifting, dispelling the heaviness in my heart. The lump in my throat dissolved. She lightened the atmosphere, cracking jokes that I readily joined in. Time slipped away unnoticed as we strolled around the college.
I was surprised at how she effortlessly changed my mood with just one round. She's a remarkable girl, a blend of fun and courage, more inclined towards being a tomboy.
But how could I romantically connect with a tomboy? She exuded more fun than romance. Her attitude, perspective, and sense of humor appealed to me. An inspiring yet innocent soul, courageous with a touch of love, she was a delightful cocktail of goodness.
Our group had a great time, and Anju even apologized for the previous day's incident. We laughed together, building a genuine friendship.
Tanu and I headed home. In my room, I gazed at the bracelet, yearning to meet its owner. However, I had no idea how to do so. Just then, a knock interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in," I called out, surprised to see Anjali entering my room.
I questioned, "Hey Anjali, why are you here? Is Rohit with you? Did anyone see you?"
Anjali silenced me with a finger on my lips, leaning in close. She whispered, "I love you, Rahul."
I exclaimed, "What?!"
She kissed my cheek, evoking the same feelings as our encounter at Lover's Point. She guided me to the bed, expressing her deep affection. Our eyes locked, and her lips met mine again. The kisses started gentle but turned passionate. I held her close, and the embrace continued for five minutes.
Suddenly, a knock interrupted us. Panicking, we broke apart. It was Tanu.
"Bhaii, what are you doing here? Don't you want food? Mom and Dad are waiting," she said.
I was shocked. Had Tanu seen Anjali? I nervously asked, "Was Rohit and Anjali here?"
Tanu, looking confused, replied, "Bhaii, it's late. They are at their home. Why would they be here?"
I asked, "Are you sure?"
Tanu reassured, "I just spoke to Rohit. He mentioned Anjali went to sleep early. They are not here."
Relieved, I agreed, "Okay."
Tanu dismissed my concerns, saying, "Stop your nonsense and come for dinner."
Feeling bewildered, I dined and returned to my room, still holding the bracelet. I pondered my unexpected feelings for Anjali. Was I going mad? I needed to quell these emotions. Anjali was just a friend. I chastised myself and drifted to sleep, the bracelet clutched in my hand.
