"After war comes reconciliation and renovation."
Strong pounding sounded on the closed doors and Ryan stiffened then relaxed when he realised who it was. "Aaaa, totally forgot about him."The pounding sounded again. "Open the doors; I know ye're in there, lad!" Sir Keith's voice reached him. "Ye_" He nearly fell inside as the doors swiftly opened with Ryan beside it. "What are ye doing, lad? When ne'er I reached ye, ye suddenly drifted away and I could barely keep up with yer swiftness." He complained though his tone was itched with fright.
Ryan shrugged, closing the doors and bolted them again.
"What?" Sir Keith halted in his steps as his legs hit the body of Dan. "What did ye do?"
"I lost control and twas his fault." Ryan nodded at Dan's still form.
Sir Keith bends over his son. "He's still breathing!"
"Nay, he willnae survive unless..." Ryan let him read the answer in his mind. His uncle was picking up threads of telepathy and was doing quite fine.
"Turn them?" Sir Keith's eyes widened. "How?" His eyes seem to say.
"Tis simple, by dying." Ryan resumed his seat, crossing his long legs.
"What?"
"Like what happened to ye, uncle. Tis nothing serious. He got up and was beside Sir Keith. We kill them_ snap their heads to the other side or something similar then they'll wake up like ye and me."
Sir Keith was looking down at Dan's pale face. "Kill my own son? Why did ye do this in the first place? No matter how mad Dan made ye, ye could have simply walked away." He complained.
"Dan found out about us, uncle. Ryan revealed. We fought over the issue and..."
Sir Keith looked up swiftly. "He found out, how?"
"Yer son followed us on that trip into the woods." Ryan was bending over the form of Reena. "This one's already gone." He closed her wide gaping eyes.
"O Dan_ where's my Thea? She isnae...?" Sir Keith was terrified then was quickly beside the body Ryan pointed at. "O my Thea, do forgive me."
"She isnae dead_ yet, uncle. All the bodies in here are on the brink of death and to prevent them from completely fading away, I gave them my blood so that when they finally give up the ghost, they'll live on just like us." Ryan explained.
"Let my son and Thea live such... such abomination?"
"Good, then let's quickly bury them. Ryan straightened. What are ye waiting for, uncle, we've funerals to prepare." He smiled inwardly, knowing his uncle will yield.
"Alright, lad let's do this... for my Thea and Dannie lad."
"Aunt will be glad, uncle." Ryan started to snap their heads to the other side. "Ye have to help and don't worry, I'll do that of Dan and Aunt Thea."
Sir Keith smiled tightly as tears escaped his eyes and fell on the cold body of his wife. He moved swiftly amongst the other bodies, repeating what Ryan was doing to the bodies.
"Think of them as foes, that's how I presently perceive them." Ryan suggested, going towards Dan's still form.
After several moments, no faint moaning could be heard in the hall. The bodies were truly dead bodies.
"So what now?" Wait for them to wake up?" Sir Keith was caressing Mrs Keith's pale face with Dan's body right beside him.
Ryan exhaled slowly. "I'm not sure, let's wait first. But it took days for ye to wake up, uncle and the bodies outside have to be tended to." He moved towards the windows and opened them, sniffing in the cool night air.
It was way into the night and the soft hoot of an owl could be heard yonder. The full Moon came in view and Ryan suddenly turned to face the hall. "Open the other windows, uncle."
Sir Keith obliged, frowning. "What about them?"
"Tis full moon, twill hasten their transformation." Ryan explained brightly.
"Aaaa my Thea, ye'll be fine soon." He spoke soothingly to the body in his arms before doing Ryan's bidding.
Just at twilight, Ryan straightened and was in his assumed seat. "Pray, put her down and join me here. He was staring at the full Moon, not blinking. Tis about to begin." He added, sensing Sir Keith's protest.
"I see." Sir Keith swallowed his protest, recalling the incident at the mini hall room.
He reluctantly left his wife and son's side to sit in one of the noble's chairs.Author's Note 👆
