The Worst Nightmare

Years passed by peacefully. I lived a very happy life full of bliss and blessings. I had a lots of Vampire and witch friends. But Mina was my best witch friend. By then we were 6 years old and Mina's parents spotted that she was a Green witch. She was able to witchcraft with the elements of nature like flowers,plants,roots and leaves. Later the forests of the Archer empire became her favourite place. All my friends came up with their supernatural powers at a certain period except me. At that age it didn't matter much to me as it did for my parents. All the people in the kingdom were worried that their only princess didn't possess any supernatural power. But one day I asked my mother about my abilities and she said, "Eve, my dear, don't worry that you do not possess any of the supernatural powers like others do. It's in your blood, you will have to make it flow through you. One day, you shall identify them by yourself". Those words were convincing, but I never once felt any power within me. Maybe I was more of a human only. People started to look differently at me. Even the council had informed my father that they have to do something about this. But my father asked them to give me some time to develop my powers.

12 years laters....

Mina, the Green Witch.

On a fine evening, Mina and I were both playing in the forest with a few other friends. They were all exhibiting their powers during the play. I felt foreign. I just moved away from the group to get some fresh air. I just kept thinking about the next day, on which the whole empire was happy to celebrate my 18th birthday. But I felt nothing special about it. Relaxing my mind I sat near the river bank and took a deep breath closing my eyes. Suddenly, I felt a chillness on my face, opening my eyes I saw some holy spirits floating on the air around me. I wanted to touch them and feel them. My mother has already told me that spirits were the gifts of the witch goddess. Taking a deep breath I touched one of the spirits, it went inside of me through my finger tips. I was shocked. Is that even possible? What just happened to me? Should I tell about this to someone?

"Princess Eve,we have to leave", I heard Adam calling my name. The guy in the vampire community with the highest speed. I left the place with tons of questions on my mind. The once floating spirits were all now inside of me. I decided on keeping it a secret to myself. When we returned to the castle we found a coven of vampires and witches discussing something. Later, I questioned my mother about the rumors spreading in the empire."Yes honey,its James Porter,the Ex head of the council who left the empire because I removed all his powers because he annoyed humans and fed from them as he wished. And now, he is back after 19years with his wife Alexa Coles,the fire witch of Fiend clan" said my mother."But mother, I thought father and you were the only vampire-witch couple in all of the renowned empires". She just smiled and answered,"Yes Eve,but there is a difference. We intend to do only good things to our people". That really made me think. And the rumours around the empire was that the couple were not reliable and evil. Although,my father let them stay with us like a family. With her powers, my mother was able to sense the traces of jinx to the empire. She warned my father to be cautious. They both were then more alert than before.

One night we heard screams of children from the forest. And soon my mother and father asked me to stay at the castle and left the room. I just wished everything to be alright. But still I couldn't wait for them doing nothing, so I went to take Mina with me to the forest. Mina took my hands as her mother already left her alone at home. We both were able to view the scenario from quite a distance. All I saw was the children of vampire community floating on the air with a hard cry. Mina then told me that,"Eve, look somebody has casted the spell on those children to float on the air and induced physical pain on them. It looks like a work of a Air witch". On hearing her words I was just shocked. Who can do these things in Archer's empire. My mother suddenly asked all the people to move back and casted spell to reduce the pain of all the young children of our empire floating in the air. The moment she casted the spell the children on the air burnt into ashes.

*dead silence*

The parents of the children shouted and grieved calling the names of their children. All I could feel was the tears dropping from my eyes. Mina and I were both terrified by the incident that we didn't even move from the place. The entire council members were present and the head of the council,looking at the ground, asked the guards to arrest my mother. She was motionless and didn't was blink her eyes,which was full of unshed tears. My father then stopped the guards from arresting my mother. When the guards tried to fight back, he killed all of them in a swish. First the children and now the guards were dead. This had kindled the council to mistreat the king and queen. Then came the nightmare of my life. James Porter, the traitor saying ,"What a shame King Shawn. How could you kill the future of Archer's Empire and your very own guards. You and your mate have now violated the Treat of Abdication".

I really wanted to rewind my life back and wished to make my parents to stay back with me at the castle,for this was the biggest mistake they did. The council and the other elderly members of the coven now took my parents to the castle arrested. By then I didn't know how to help them. I was only able to sit and cry on Mina's shoulder. On hearing the crushing of dry leaves under the foot, I saw the place where my parents were arrested. It was Alexa Coles who came from the woods. James just hugged his wife happily. He then appreciated her for having casted the fire spell at the right time before my mother casted the saving spell. This was all a coup. Perfectly plotted against the king and queen of the Archer's empire. I couldn't control my anger anymore. I wanted to kill them both for what they did. But Mina held my hand tight and reminded me that I have got no powers to fight the evil couple at the middle of the forest. So we decided to move to the castle to tell people that my parents were innocent. But things were different there.

Once I reached the gates of the castle, I saw my mother looking at me and mouthed 'I love you' which made me shed tears. My father still looked majestic. I wanted to hug my parents tightly and tell them everything. I ran towards them, but was stopped by the guards on my way. I heard Mina's mother fighting the witch head to stop them. But then the witch head casted a spell on Mina's mother,that she fell down holding her head tight. Saving a criminal from the penalty was considered illegal in our empire. And so the witch head killed Mina's mother. From my peripheral vision I could see Mina running towards her dead mother crying aloud. I still didn't know why the guards were holding me tight and my father didn't command them to let me go off. The head of the council signalled the guard and in a blink I saw my father and mother burning alive in front of me. The most important couple of the vampire-witch world and my world were dying before me. I stood there like a dummy with no powers. The only person who came running towards me to hold me from falling down was Mina, the only person I have got for the whole life.
