Chapter 4 Nuriyah's pov
*Sniff* and *Sneeze* has been my schedule for the past 2 days. I couldn't go for Jummah prayer since I had 'that' time of the month to deal with. The flu was not as bad as my mood. I was still upset with Lena. And I was upset with myself for not knowing why I was upset with her.
Gosh what could have Khalid have meant?
"Assalamualaikum," Aslam peeked his head into my room.He is still in his white Thobe. He flew in on a different flight than mine to come visit for a few days and was flying back tomorrow. I was flying back later since I was taking Anne with me.
"Wa alaikum Salam," I replied, patting a spot on my bed, gesturing for him to sit next to me.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"I'm fine, Alhamdulillah and you?" I replied.
"I'll be happy once you're happy. Do you want to talk about it?"
Aslam obviously knew what was wrong but I didn't want to bother him so I shook my my head."Anyway I have another question, do you miss him?"
"Who?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, "Rodrigo?"
"No. A sly fox!" Aslam rolled his eyes in sarcasm."I mean..." I trailed off, feeling my cheeks turn into strawberries.
"Okay fine I do," I said embarrassed, burying my head into one of my pillows.
"Why don't you call him then?" he asked, gently lifting my face up with his hand.
"I don't have my phone remember?"My phone, one of the most important possessions in my life, had gotten damaged while I was packing. I put my suitcase on top of it by mistake. It's now at the i-store waiting to be fixed.
Gosh I miss it so much!
"But I have mine," he said, holding it out for me to take.
"You don't have his number," I stated, confused. Nevertheless, I took his blue Samsung galaxy S7 and admired the cover, smooth and cold against my warm hand.
"Oh but I do," he smirked ."How? Did you run into each other?" I asked, amazed.
"No, we didn't. I took it from your phone when you weren't around."
"Aslam, you sly bunny!""Fox." he corrected me.
I excitedly dialed the number but Rodrigo didn't pick up. I dialed again and there was still no answer.
"He's not answering, maybe he's driving," I said, giving it back to Aslam.
The doorbell rang.
"Or, maybe he is at the door"? Aslam said, a huge grin appearing on his face, just like when we were younger when he had done something naughty.
Aslam has always loved surprising people. But why did he have to choose to surprise me on the day that my room is a mess?
He went to answer the door and I jumped out of bed and quickly cleared up. As I was straightening out my bed, I heard their footsteps coming down the corridor.
I looked down and exclaimed in dismay, "Oh gosh, I'm still in pyjamas!"
I was suddenly regretting wearing my superman t-shirt with a pair of batman pyjama pants. I quickly ran to the bathroom. First, I washed my hands and then took off my glasses and washed my my face and brushed my teeth. I hurriedly tied my hair in a bun since there was no time for a hijab. After putting my glasses back on, I looked in the mirror one more time.
'Gosh, why did you get so frazzled over a guy?' I thought to myself, seeing my cheeks turn crimson.
'Maybe it's because he has Zanzibar-Sea blue eyes that even all pixels in the world wouldn't be able to capture? Or because he plays with kids? Or because you want to be the girl that gets to run her fingers through his soft brown hair?' said the stupid little voices in my head, making me turn even redder.
