Chapter one:

"That dress is perfect Livvy!" I exclaim to my best friend as she steps out of the dressing room wearing a nude dress that perfectly accentuated her every feature. Olivia Perez was already blessed with amazing Latina curves and perfect brown shoulder-length hair. She could light up a room with her smile and was just a naturally cheery person which is why we've been best friends for about 10 years now. Since that fateful day in the 3rd grade when we met, all through the terribly awkward years that was middle school, to last summer when I had to catch up on work from half of my freshman and sophomore year in order to be on track to graduate with my class.

"I don't know Ari, are you sure it doesn't show too much?" Livvy questions referring to the slits on the side of the dress and I roll my eyes. This was the 4th dress that had looked amazing on Livvy and every time she would find something wrong with it but this dress was different so there was no way I was going to let her put this one back.

"If you don't buy the dress I will Livvy," I say clearly bluffing because I knew she loved it but was doubting herself yet again.

"but I think it's just too..." Livvy begins to say but I cut her off

"I will buy it and since I know it won't look as cute on me as it does on you then I probably will never wear it and it will just sadly stay in the back of my closet. Is that what you want Livvy? For the dress to sit sadly in the back of my closet" I ramble on until Livvy cuts me off.

"Okay, I'll get it!" Livvy says loudly and I squeal in excitement.

"You are going to look so amazing on prom night!" I squeal in excitement as Livvy walks back into the dressing room to take off the dress.

"Thanks, but what about you Ari?" She asks

"What about me?" I respond as I start to scroll through my Instagram feed on my phone.

"When are you going to get your prom dress?" Livvy asks me and I take a moment to think.

"I don't know yet," I answer honestly, it's not that I haven't already looked but It's just I haven't found a dress that looks so amazing on me that it will make my boyfriend's jaw drop the floor for our senior year prom. Livvy steps out of the dressing room with the dress in her hand and we walk towards the cash register so she can pay for the dress.

"I'm sure we'll find something amazing that will make Cole wonder if that's his sexy girlfriend descending from the stairs to be his date for prom or a long-lost descendant of Princess Diana," Livvy says with a giggle as we step out of the store and start walking towards her car.

"Great minds think alike and that is why you're my best friend," I say with a laugh.

"Speaking of Cole Richards your perfect boyfriend we mustn't keep him waiting any, longer right?" Livvy says slipping into the driver's seat of the car and I get into the passenger seat.

I check the time on my phone and say, "Well I'm not late yet technically I told him I would see him before the party at 7 pm and its only 6 pm"

"Well since we finished early that means you'll have more time to spend with him, so I bet he'll be super excited about that" Livvy says and she starts pulling the car out of the parking lot. Cole and I spent a lot of time together since we first started dating about a year ago after my accident but even with all that stress, he was still there for me through everything.

"What are you thinking about that has you smiling so much?" Livvy asks

"My amazing boyfriend," I say and instantly I start to smile harder if that was even possible.
