Chapter 6: The Hot Springs Trip Part 2

Haru took Akira to their room on the second floor and laid him out to sleep. He then took out his laptop and started to do something while watching over Akira.

3rd Perspective

Knocking could be heard from the room next door. Haru's head suddenly snapped up at the unexpected sound. Akira was also starting to wake.

Ran Mouri could be heard from outside their door saying, "Yumi-san! Yumi-san! The fireworks have already started. Yumi-san, I'm opening the door..."

"Huh? Well, if it isn't Ran-chan and Conan-kun!" a guy said.

"Nakamichi-san!" Ran answered surprise in her voice.

"I thought you went ahead." the Nakamichi guy said.

"We came back to wake Yumi-san up." Ran explained.

"You better quit while you're ahead! Yumi turns into a total grouch when someone wakes her up!" Nakamichi said chuckling.

"Why are you still here, Nakamichi-san?" Ran asked.

"I worked up a sweat playing table tennis, so I took a bath. Then, I heard you guys running up here. I thought it was strange." Nakamichi explained. After hearing this, their voices had gotten fainter.

By that time, Akira had totally woken up and Haru had his laptop put away, but they stayed inside and just watched the fireworks from the balcony. When it was over, they decided to go to the living room and eat dinner, but it was too loud, so they decided not to.

Akira's Perspective

After a few minutes, it got quiet downstairs. Some was knocking on the door. I opened it to check when the one knocking said, "Hey, Yumi, it's dinner time! Yumi! That's strange."

"Hey, can you guys quiet down? You're kind of loud." I told them standing in the hallway.

"Sorry, we'll be more quiet," he said and continued to call Yumi, "Hey, are you still sleeping? I'm turning on the light!"

He turned on the light and I heard gasps. They were also frozen. I went over on my tippy toes and saw that the lady they were calling had been shot in the head.

"Haru. Someone next door has been shot." I said as I went back to our room.

"Yumi!" and "Don't touch her! Only Mouri and I can enter since I'm a police officer and he's a detective! Ran-kun, hurry up and call the police! Hurry!" could be heard from the group.

"Ok!" could be heard from the girl as she ran down the stairs.

Haru and I slipped into the group and listened in getting a picture of what was going on.

"She's dead.There's a bullet wound in her temple. There's a pistol in her right hand." one of the guys that went up to her said.

Suddenly, Conan-kun commented as he scanned the gun in her hand, "Ojisan! Isn't that the gun that the bank robber had?"

"What?!" Ojisan exclaimed and continued with his observation, "The pistol is definitely a Smith & Wesson M439. The barrel has marks that indicate it was hit by something. Not only that, Yumi was there at the time. So, Yumi took that pistol with the intention of using it on herself. This means that she planned to commit suicide at our reunion."

Haru and I exchanged glances. We had heard about the bank robbery from this morning. A detective called Mouri Kogoro had helped capture the bank robber, but the gun had disappeared and the police are now investigating. It was more like Haru hacked into the police system and found out about the missing gun though. But to think of it, the detective from then was right in front of them now doesn't seem to be true.
