Fourteen

After I got up, I sat near a wall while I waited for the guys to come up.

My breathing was finally beginning to slow down before I heard a creaking noise coming from the elevator duct.

My eyes widen as I stood to see what was happening.

"The elevator is falling again"

One of the men with the ropes claimed with worry clearly in his voice.

I began to panic, not kk owing if they got the guys out safe or not.

"Ethan"

I shouted as I heard the elevator hit the bottom with a loud thud.

My heart stopped and I slouched against the wall, tears welling up in my eyes.

I felt a connection with Ethan in the small amount of time we had together.

Now he's dead.

I held my head in my hands, sobbing quietly, until I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Ethan?"

I looked up in his beautiful eyes and before I knew it, I was wrapped around his body like my life depended on it.

"Thank go you're ok. What happened"

"Well, we both heard the creaking and the elevator began to shake as soon as the rope came down. We both knew only on of if would make it out.

He told me that since I'm so young and have so much life to live, he would let me out. So he wrapped the rope around me and helped me out right before it fell."

I slightly gasp at the sacrificial act made by the man and silently thanked him.

"Let's get out of here. This place gives me the chills now"

I nodded and we both walked over to the doors where we were attended by medics.
