My best friend, Derek Hale. My name, Scarlett Gallus.

The first day we had met, we were 5 years old. So young, so innocent, our lives ahead of us, so full of twists and turns. But that first day, that's when I knew we were going to be with each other for a while.

I was just walking around the new forest in what I think is California. I never really cared where we moved to, as long as I had my family I was going to be fine. But they had said something about us staying here, and for a while. When I had finally came back to my parents, they were in a clearing, where a large house was. It was really pretty, and I could hear lot of people laughing, and even see a kid running in and out of the house, being chased by an older kid. Then, there were my parents, talking to a beautiful woman and her husband.I walked up to them, and the woman and man turned to me. The lady bends down until she is about my height.

She smiled at me. "Hi, little one. Your parents tell me your name is Scarlett, Is that right?" She asks, and I nod in response. "How old are you?"

"I'm 5." I tell her, showing her all 5 of my fingers on my small hand. She smiles at me and nods her head.

"I have a son that age. His name is Derek. Want to meet him?" She asks and I nod my head yes. It would be nice to meet a new friend. She called out to him, and next thing I knew, the same boy from earlier came running out of the house, a girl behind him carrying a baby.

"Scarlett, this is my oldest daughter Laura, my son Derek, and my new baby, Cora." She smiled while introducing them. "And I'm Talia Hale. But you can call me Talia." I nodded at her and she smiled at my parents. "Come on, let's leave the kids to get to know each other."  She grabbed Cora from Laura's hands, then led my parents inside the large home.

"Hi, I'm Scarlett, but I like Scar." I said with a small wave, and they introduced themselves back, Laura saying something about having to do homework before going back inside. Then it was just Derek and I.

"Wanna play hide and seek?" He asks, eyes ablaze with mischief, similar to my own. I like this kid.

"Sure, you count." And before he could respond, I ran the other way. I climbed a small tree and focused on controlling my heart beat and breathing.

Yes, we were all werewolves. That's why my family and I moved here, so we could work with the Hales. Well, my parents anyway. I would just grow up here.

I heard him coming close, then disappear. I smiled excitedly to myself, thinking he hadn't learned about controlling or using his senses yet. I was about to jump down when I was suddenly pushed form the tree. I landed on my feet at the last second and turned around to see Derek's bright green eyes staring back at me.

"Found you." He said smiling. I giggled and we chased each other around the yard until the sun went down, and the stars were high in the sky.

After that day, Derek and I spent more and more time together, doing anything we could together and growing closer and closer. We talked all the time, and over any subject that we could. I spend just as much of my time at the Hale's as I do my own home, if not more.

I smiled to myself and opened the door only to be tackled down by a little 6 year old Cora. This was typical. This was my normal.
