Scar
I walked inside the Hale house, carrying Cora on my hip and smiled at the familiar feeling, that always envelopes me when I walk inside, but my main focus was to find Derek.
Laura's room
It was weird, if you ask me, that we were always able to tell where the other one of us was if we weren't together. I walked up the stairs, stopping in Cora's room to grab her brush, before walking into Laura's open room.
"Hey guys." I said, going and sitting down on the bed. Laura and Derek were at her desk, she was trying to help him understand hid school work. Now, Derek is a very smart person, but when it came to math, he had the skills of a 1st grader.
"Hey Scar, going to do Cora's hair?" Questioned Laura, and I nodded. "I still don't get it, she only let's 2 people do her hair. You and mom." She says exasperatedly. "I'm her sister and she doesn't let me do it! Something is deeply wrong with that." She ranted and I laughed..
"You never do it right. Last time you tried it, we had to cut her hair because you got the comb tangled!" I exclaimed. "And, actually," I stopped and looked at the young girl in front of me. "Cora, why don't you let Derek do your hair?"
"Well, he doesn't have hair. Why would he be good at doing mine?" She asked.
"Hey, I'm actually great with hair." He smirked and Cora only raised her eyebrows.
"Wanna do my hair? I mean, if you're so good at it." She said dragging out the so. His cheeks flushed pink and he mumbled a 'well then' Before turning around to do homework. I quickly finished her hair and shooed her away. I walked up to both of them, looking at both of their homework and quickly knowing the answers.
"Derek, you move to isolate X. Keep Y on one side, then divide, then add 2 here." I point to the problem, and he quickly scribbles down the work. "Laura, kinetic energy is energy in motion. When applied in science it applies to Newtons laws of motion, the third law specifically." I explained she nodded, writing down the answer.
"Can you not pull out your genius? I know you're 11, and are a junior in high school, but come on." Derek begged and I rolled my eyes.
I wasn't really a genius, just pretty smart. I had finished much of my school grades over past summers, and here I was, a junior at 11. When I graduated, I wanted to go off to college. The California School of Medicine to be precise, but Derek doesn't know that yet. I plan on keeping it like that until it was too late to deny.
It was the cowards was out, but I would deal with it if it meant that he wasn't angry at me for longer than he deserved to be.
I walked out of the room and down the stairs, hearing them following me. I smiled, that was the last problem they had for homework, and now we could all hang out like we usually do. When we got into the living room, Derek and Laura were joking around and calling me a nerd, and I was making funny faces at them.
I had just sat down on the smaller couch when Peter walked in the room. "Hey Peter, whatcha up to?" I question, and Derek comes and sits next to me, Laura and Peter taking the bigger couch next to ours.
Peter was Talia's brother, and he was a fun guy, for the most part. Annoying to death, but he has his good moments.
"Oh nothing, just thinking of watching a few scary movies." He held up his hands that contained a few movie cases that I had not seen before. I grinned and clapped my hands together, bouncing slightly, making the three relatives laugh.
"Movie night? It is Friday." I said, and was greeted back with a wave of 'Sure's' and smiles from the siblings and the smirk from Peter. "I'm gonna make snacks, Derek, help me?" I asked with puppy dog eyes. He groaned before getting up and rolling his sleeves, following me into the kitchen.
"Let's see, let's see." I mumble, taking out some bags of popcorn and throwing them at Derek to heat up.
"Could've been nicer about it." He scoffed, and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Could've. I could've been nicer about it." I repeat and he shakes his head. "Oh you love me." I sing and pull out two bowls for the popcorn to go in. For individual snacks I grabbed Twizzlers for me, chocolate for Laura, Skittles for Peter, and last but not least, a bowl of cherries for Derek.
It's probably the weirdest food combination you could ever have, but Derek loves popcorn and cherries together. And no matter how many times you try and tell him it's disgusting, he'll turn his nose and eat it anyways. I once tried to tell him that he can never eat cherries right, and always ends up getting it on either his lips, the corner of his mouth, or around it, and it never fails in making me giggle. We grabbed sodas and left the kitchen, hands full, and moved into the living room where Peter was putting the movie in, and Laura was setting up blankets. One for me and Derek, one for her, and one for Peter, although he always tries to deny being cold, but ends up using it anyways.
The movie he put in was The Shining, and I jumped at a few parts, making everyone laugh. We watched the movie for a while, and I hid my face in a mixture of the blanket and Derek's shirt throughout the whole thing. This was one of the best nights we had together, it was legendary. It was calm, it was peaceful.
Until of course, Peter jumped and threw all the popcorn on Laura. Which in my opinion, made it all the more better.
"PETER!" She shouted, then jumped up and tried to get the buttery substance off of her hair, failing miserably and just making it a greasy mess. We were all laughing in the background, and Peter was nearly falling off the couch while clutching his stomach. "I'm going to kill you!" She exclaimed, then jumped on him, making the two fall to the ground as they tumbled around. I used my foot and moved the table out of the way, to be sure that they didn't hurt themselves during the fight, but other than that, I made no move to break up the fight or stop them in any way. Me and Derek were laughing the whole time, pointing out bad things that each of them had done and the bruises each person was getting.
"20 bucks says Peter wins." He whispers next to me, and I look at him.
"Oh you're on." I said and we shook hands.
I never got my twenty bucks after that.
