Short(ish) Prelude

I just wanted to say an enormous thank you to anyone who is reading this. 

This is my first time ever posting my writing onto the internet and though it isn't as polished as I would hope, I knew if I never bit the bullet and just posted anyway I'd spend forever revising and never actually end up publishing it. 

I'm not sure of the rating these should be? I, myself, don't believe they're mature content but because of swearing and some other things discussed maybe a small warning should be present? If I'm wrong then shoot me a message letting me know. Like stated, this is my first time posting anything on the internet so I'm not fully sure what most people find acceptable. 

Each of these short one-shots is based off, and use characters from, a much larger story I'm working on with my friend called 'Finches'. All characters in these particular short stories are original and belong to me.  

Some elements of the larger story this is from aren't fully addressed leading to some parts of the short stories being confusing or unexplained. I understand this and am sorry in advance. 

I'll try to make a note or something if it seems appropriate, however, if the gist of the story is there I won't bother too much as I do plan to write something soon explaining the setting, world, and nuances that are mentioned. I've tried to write a small bit of exposition to help but I've found it difficult to make it any sort of short, so I hope that you enjoy the writing for what it is and understand that an explanation and clarification will be coming soon. 

One thing I can say is anytime where the word 'god' would be, the word 'atom' replaces it. This is due to the advancement of science and the loss of theology and religion in the world. So, hopefully, that helps a with a bit of confusion.
