Going All The Way

chapter five

Ponyboy went straight home from school, got his homework done and yook a shower. He was really looking forward to his 'date' with curly shepperd. Curly had promised they would stay at the drive-in through one whole movie. But it wasn't just that, the more time the two spent together, the more attraction they showed for each other.

Pony was sitting on the couch reading a book, trying to pass the time until curly showed up. It was 6.30pm. Curly said he'd be there at 7.00pm.

7.00pm no curly. 'Nothing to worry about, he's probably just running late' pony thought.

7.15pm still no curly. 'Hope he hasn't forgotten' pony thought again.

7.45pm still no curly. 'Oh come on curly, the movie starts at 8.00pm, you better have a good reason for standing me up' pony thought to himself. This time he was starting to get pissed off. Pony new what he was getting into with curly, but he also thought curly was different when he was with him.  He didn't act so much like the hood he was, but showed a more gentle side towards pony.

At 8.30pm realising curly wasn't goung to show, pony took off his shoes, switched on the tv and laid on the couch. He wasn't even paying attention to what was on. He started to think maybe he had done something wrong.

Pony was asleep on the couch when his brothers walked in the door. Darry had gone out to catch up with some old school mates and soda had gone to some party with steve. Pony woke up to the sound of the door slamming.  It was 11.00pm. "Hey pony, didn't expect to see you home for at least another hour" sodapop said as his younger brother sat up.

"I didn't even leave the house, i think i got stood up" pony said as he got up and headed toward the bedroom. He didn't feel like talking, he had never had his heart broken before but thats what it felt like. He just wanted to hide under his covers and cry. Soda followed him to bed. Darry had already gone off to his own room.

Pony was quietly crying into his pillow when soda entered the room. "Hey pone, you wanna talk about it?" Soda spoke softly, rubbing his younger brothers back softly. "Curly stood me up, i waited and he didn't show. He didn't even call soda".pony sobbed. Soda took pony into his arms and let his little brother cry into his chest. He new how his brother felt about the young hood. He also new what it felt like to have his heart broken.

The next day pony didn't feel like going anywhere. In fact he didn't even wantto get out of bed. He was lying with his face burried in the pillow when the phone rang.

"Hello" pony heard his brother soda answer. "Oh you gotta nerve asking to speak to him after what you did" "fine, i'll see if he wants to talk" soda put the phone down. "Hey pone there's a call for you, its curly" soda says.
