"Not right now, Romeo, I've got class to get to." Julian said, pushing my hand off of his shoulder.
"Please, I need to talk to you." I said, pleading for him to stay.
He flared up, then took a breath to calm down. "Lunch. We can talk then. Meet me by the library."
I simply nodded, knowing that he'd win any argument that we may have. And I still didn't even know what to say at this point, so even if I could stop him I wouldn't know what to do next. I just watched he walk away. It's quiet in the halls.
The next period goes fast as I'm trying to find out what to say. I don't know what I'm supposed to say. It's not like anyone has told me what we need to even talk about. I just... I want him back.
Second period, and all I can do is watch Julian. He answers every question easily. He's pretty good at this stuff. Maybe he could help me out with my history work. That would be cool.
"Romeo, could you explain what the issue of the first national bank was?" Mr Washington asked with a shit eating grin.
I looked at with him with confusion. "That was just after the revolution, wasn't it? Why are we talking about that now, it's been months since we did that stuff!"
"Oh, so he is paying attention in my class. Slightly. Can you answer the question or not?" The teacher asked.
"No, I don't have the answer, because it's a stupid question." I hissed.
He smiled softly. "Leave."
"That's dumb." Julian said, shaking his head slowly.
The entire class stared in astonishment, especially Mr Washington. Julian looked around at all the silent people and laughed to himself slightly.
"You just don't like him, sir. It's as simple as that. His grades aren't terrible, he tries to answer your ridiculous questions, and he's at least patient enough that he hasn't punched you in the face yet. You have no reason to hate him so much, and yet you do." The boy explained, defending me. "You just want an excuse to kick him out of your class, it's a fact for sure."
Mr Washington looked shocked, the paralyzing surprise in him stopping any words. When he did compose himself, he just looked disappointed. "Julian, I'm sorry to say it, but you can go with Mr Romulus. I don't care where you go, but you're done in my class."
And he stood up, took his bag, and walked out calmly, everyone watching him. He stuck his head in for just a moment and looked right at me.
"Are you coming?" Julian asked, looking at me as if I was just another moron.
"Umm..." When did he start telling teachers off? "Y-yeah."
I followed him out and he started in the direction of the gym, the next class we had. "You wanted to talk?"
I nodded. "Yeah... We haven't really hung out at all recently."
"Not my fault that you cut off contact with me." The boy said coldly.
"I know... I'm sorry about that..." The words came as mumbles, barely able to be understood.
Julian seemed to get what I said, as he signed, stopping and turning to look at me. "Romeo, I just want to know why. What did I do to make you not want to talk to me anymore? Was it because I didn't go to your party?"
"No! Oh god, no... I don't know exactly why I distanced myself, but I've had it stuck in my head every moment since." I whispered, the pain evident in my voice.
He took a moment to just watch me and signed softly. Suddenly, I was pulled into his arms and he was right up to my chest.
"You should just talk to me if you miss me..." He said, his words muffled by my shirt.
I slowly wrapped my arms around him and felt his warmth against me. "I'm sorry, buddy... I'll just talk to you next time..."
"There better not be a next time, or I'll kick your ass..." Julian mumbled, squeezing me tighter. "Asshole..."
"I know..."
We kept walking to the gym and sat down outside of the locker room. Something was still nagging me... I felt like talking about it with someone, but I knew that Julian was the last guy I should ask about it. He was the topic after all.
I still needed to talk to someone about the dream.
The bell rang and Julian was standing and walking into the gym before the last class had even left. When I finished changing and walked into the gymnasium, Julian was failing to dribble a basketball, that being the minimum he could do for participation.
I grabbed a ball and started walking over to him, easily dribbling beside him. "So... You havin' fun there?" I asked with a smirk.
"Shut your face hole." He said, losing control of the ball and barely getting it back.
I raised a brow. "You want some help with that?"
"No..." The boy mumbled.
Gym went by fast, things went easy as always for me (I'm kinda an athlete if you haven't realized), and I stayed with Julian nearly the whole class. Oddly enough, Warren actually stayed away from us, just glancing from across the room. Even weirder, Julian never even looked his way. It was kinda nice to have all his attention...
After class we parted ways and the day went fast from there. I hung out with Chris in our work period, Andrew and I made fun of Franklin in science, and I actually did well on a test in English.
As I was walking out of the school building, I heard someone call out to me."Romeo! Hey, wait up!" Julian shouted.
I turned around and he stopped in front of me, huffing and puffing while leaning on his knees. I smiled at him and tried not to laugh. "Are you ok, buddy?"
"We... Need to..." He breathed out. "Need to see a movie..."
Looking down at the boy, I grinned brightly. "We'll go this weekend if you have something in mind."
