Chapter One~A New Start

It was a new start, a new chance to finally be what I wanted and to show who I really am. Hello!! It's me, Kanoa Caoile!! Kind of a weird way to start, but to tell you about myself; I am the oldest son in my family, which is tiring when you have 3 brothers to look after. That's pretty much it.

August 18, 2016, was the start of a new day at middle school. Everything would be different. I am so excited!!!

Elementary, long story, but to cut to the chase, the worst years of my life. Our drama program was taken down due to a low budget. It haunts my dreams every night and eats me up in the day!! I loved the drama project. Now, I get to change all that. This middle school, Theodore Middle School, was talked about as one of the highest education middle schools out in LA County. The sad part about that was that my family and I lived all the way in Carson as the school was all the way in San Pedro, but I didn't care. I thought about making many new friends and a stronger and higher education, which made me really excited!!

Today was August 17, 2016, and tomorrow was the start of a new day!! All of my stuff was ready. I got my lunch and PE clothes in my backpack.

"I can't wait for school tomorrow! After what happened in elementary, it was a nightmare. People making fun of me and talking about me cause I look like a gangster, but middle school is the time for a change! New education and a new change," I say to myself.

My heart was rushing, and I couldn't even sleep due to the excitement I had but fell asleep due to boredom.

It was August 18, and I looked at the clock to see that it was 5:00 AM. I look out at the window and see the rising orange sun. I got out of my squeaky bed and saw that no one in my family was awake yet. I was quite disappointed but was still excited.

I yell out, "Mom, Dad, Kai, Kalle, Kalvin!! Wake up!! It's time for school."

Everybody snaps into action. Everybody walks out of their rooms and looks at each other as they see a hideous beast in pajamas and not ready for school. I giggle, and I take the first showers as my parent's shower in their room. My brothers have to wait. I felt bad, but I really don't because of the torment they make me struggle with. By 5:15, my brothers and I have finished taking a shower, but my youngest brothers (Kalle and Kalvin) needed help to get dressed. As being the oldest brother of the family, it was my responsibility to help out my brothers...

Everybody in the house is running around getting ready or multitasking around the house. My parents make breakfast as my brothers slowly put on their uniforms and stuff away and waste my time!! I grab my glasses, and I clean my stuff up. I look at my watch, and I was worried that we weren't going to make it on time.

I yell at my family, "IT'S ALREADY 6:00!! WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE IF WE AREN'T READY YET!! HURRY!!"

We hop into our van. Most of us already have our clothes on while ONE of us is still changing. I gave my brother "the death look." I was ready to kill Kai!! I wanted to just throw on the rest of his clothes and drag him out the door!! I look at my watch as I impatiently give my brother the death look. It's already 6:45 AM, and I don't know if we are going to make it!! I then decided just to take action. I march into the house with full anger. I threw on the rest of Kai's clothes and pulled him and his backpack out of the room and into the car. By the end of it, I was already tired of doing all that.

The entire family is in the car. Of course, we had to drop off my brothers at Hagrid's Elementary School.

The ride to the school was just noises and talking. I took the window seat in the back and just laughed and talked to my brothers and parents.
