My dad brought my brothers and me home. The entire car was silent. I look out the window, trying to contain myself. "First love, then now my family," I say to myself quietly without anyone knowing what I said.

When we got home, my dad never left the car. I got worried and made food for him, but it was never eaten when I gave him the food. I can see his pain.

One Month Later

I'm out of the wheelchair, and my dad is back on his feet. I haven't been to the school for a month while. I haven't talked to Lala, but I have seen her walk in front of my house. My dad has been working harder and never got to see him at home most of the day and night, so we had to take a personal bus that'll pick us up from our house, but it was only for my brothers.

As I went to get the mail, I found a letter from Lala and her family.

Dear The Caoile's,

We are sorry for your tragic loss. We want to offer some assistance to your family. We can help drop off your sons if you're very busy, Mr. Caoile. Please, we don't want to let your family fall apart and change your children's future.

Sincerely,
the Ukita's

I smile and look around. I look in the direction of Lala's house. I saw a figure walking in the direction of our house. I squinted to see if I recognize them. It was a female, "Lala?" I said.

I dropped the mail and ran over to what I think is Lala. As I got closer, I felt my heart pound. I haven't talked to her for so long, but it would have been worth it to talk to someone for a while finally.

When we were a house apart, we stopped and stared at each other. Lala was wearing black yoga pants with a grey shirt that was over a yellow tank top. I slowly walked up to Lala. She looked at me with happiness in her eyes. For one month, we haven't talked or even seen each other for a while, and now, we stand just a few feet to Lala. I feel butterflies in my stomach because we haven't talked.

As I got closer, Lala says to me, "I'm glad you are back. Hey Kanoa, is it okay if I can come over? My mom and dad took my brothers to go to Legoland. Tomorrow we go back to school, and I wanted to see if you were okay."

I smiled, and when I was standing just in front of Lala, I hug her tightly. I let go and told Lala to follow me back to my house to make her hang out.

I looked back in the direction back to my house while trying not to think of the past. When Lala and I were in front of the house, Kalle came out with my brothers and said, "Kanoa? Can we go to the park? We are bored and want to play."

I giggle and nod to Kalle. My brothers shift their attention to Lala, who was standing behind me. "Kanoa," they asked, "Is she coming too?"

I looked back to see if Lala would have answered. "WHAT?! I'M GOING TO ANSWER??" Lala says in confusion. "Umm. Yeah. I will come."

Lala tries to walk back to her house, but I held her hand so she can stop moving and tell her, "You do know the bikes that have that the rear back basket they have in Japan?"

Lala nods and looks at me with a look, "Kanoa? What are you thinking?"

I smirk and say, "Double riders! Come on. It'll be a while, so it'll be fun."

Lala smiles, and we all scram to get our bikes. I opened the warehouse where all of our bikes are stored, and we all meet at the gate. When we were all here, lala hopped onto the back of my bike, and I tell my brothers, "You all ready?"

"No. We don't have helmets," They all say.

I nod at my own stupidity and park my bike to get out helmets from the top shelf. I grabbed my brothers and one for Lala. I gave her my white helmet that has been scratched up from falling over when riding my skateboard a long time ago.
