Beep... Beep... Beep... Be-
I swear one day I'm going to kill that stupid alarm clock.
I lazily stay in bed, staring into space simply doing nothing. Sadly, it didn't last long. As much as I wanted to stay in that position forever, I knew that if I didn't wake up, our whole routine would be ruined and none of the other girls would wake up either.
I slowly get out of bed giving my body a chance to actually wake up, and go get changed so I could start with my day. This time though, I'm extra careful to not hits my head with the upper bunk, since it happened yesterday.
After getting a fast shower and getting changed into something pretty normal, since I didn't have much to choose from, I decide to wake up the 5 younger girls so we could start with our daily routine.
"Girls it's time to wake up" I say as I try to wake the girls up. Key word 'try'.
"Whoever doesn't wake up and starts getting ready gets breakfast leftovers!" I say with a higher voice this time. Every single girl immediately starts dressing up, all except for one. Rachel. That girl is definitely a handful.
"C'mon Rach, you need to start getting ready for school" I say as I approach her bed.
"I'm not dumb enough to fall for the breakfast leftover trick and I don't even want to go to school so why bother?" Says the 10 year-old with a raspy voice from just waking up.
"Rach, you need to go to school. Your lucky enough to even go to school, some kids don't even have the chance to learn" I say looking directly into her beautiful green eyes, similar to my own.
"I guess your right" she mumbles tiredly as she starts getting up. You wonder why the whole 'some kids don't even have the chance to learn' worked and the 'whoever doesn't wake up gets breakfast leftovers' didn't...
Well I think this is a great chance to introduce myself. I'm Maddie Grace. Notice no last name? I'm an orphan. Foster kid to be exact. Currently 16, and the oldest from my foster home. I've been in the system my whole life, and about 4 years in this foster home with 5 adorable little girls. By the way call me Maddison and you will have no bones left in your body.
I kind of just went out of subject there. I don't go to school. I stopped going when I was 12, so I could earn money to take care of myself and the other girls. You must wonder where our 'foster parents' are. We only have a 'foster mom' and she's never actually home. Let me rephrase that. She's never actually in the house. I wouldn't call this a home. Of course, she shows every pay day which is once a month, when the system sends a supervisor to check on us; that we're living in a safe environment, that we're healthy and stuff like that. After his/her inspection, Ms. Reynolds our 'foster mom' gets payed.
Enough with my backround. Making sure everyone is getting ready, I go down stairs to start making breakfast.
Once I open the fridge, I notice it's empty. What a surprise *notice the sarcasm*. There's barley any food ever since Ms Reynolds doesn't really care and I can hardly earn enough money for food. I guess cereal it is, again. I really hope the girls don't mind, I always try my best but it's never enough.
I take out some bowls and spoons for the cereal and take out the box of cereal. Fruit Loops. Kind of childish, but after all, it is the cheapest cereal.
After 10 minutes or so I finish my own cereal and the girls start to walk into the kitchen.
"Morning Maddie!!" says the 6 year old with a very cheerful voice jumping right into my arms and koala-bear hugging me. Hayley is the youngest in the house and she is the most adorable human being in existence. She's a cute little ray of sunshine that brightens anyone's day.
