The morning rays beamed through the windows. The cawing of the Pidgey and Spearow acted as nature's alarm clock. Yet, twenty stories up in a skyscraper leaves acts of nature as foreign entities. That didn't stop Ponder from waking as late possible.
The lad rolled out of his bed, with a large thud upon contact with the ground. Now laying splayed across the fine red carpet, with its fine and intricate details of Snivys, Servines, and Serperiors, Ponder opened his eyes. With a groan he sat up, the red lights of his clock displayed 9:23 a.m.
With a large yawn, Ponder got to his feet. His toes felt the fine carpet, worth the lives of the people who work for his father, but cheaper than himself. The beams of light illuminate his bedroom enough for him to find the light switch.
After flicking the switch, the room was swathed in a brilliant artificial light, which clashed against the natural light from the windows. The large room itself was spacious, but filled to the brim with all types of books, folders, and files.
Ponder wandered over to the closet in his room. The closet was built into the room and its door was a large sliding mirror. He stood before and stared at himself, just a lad in his boxers.
He wasn't masculine, but he was tone enough for his own standards. He sighed, as he note the scars on his legs. He took a step closer to appreciate his face, acne clear, slim, and charming. With two pools of emeralds for his eyes, locks of gold on his head, and a complexion like silky sand, he would vainly call himself handsome.
He opens his closet, searches through it to find a black t-shirt, with Great Detective Starr (an old popular cartoon) on it, tan slacks, black socks and dress shoes.
He leapt back on his bed, clad in casual clothes. His bed was on a raised platform in the middle of his room. His eyes scan the walls, books filing his sight. Their subjects vary largely: psychology, wartime tactics, social dilemmas, global studies, sociology, all major world languages, a Pokepedia for all regions, political books, and history books from all major and associated countries. Alongside those books were comic books and profiles.
Ponder laid his head back against his Mareep cotton pillow. He shut his eyes and muttered to himself. His thoughts roam to his family and close friends. Conflicting opinions and views clashed within.
His older brother, Pompous Pine, was now a Lieutenant, and on route to promotion. A young one at that. Only twenty-one and currently a full-fledged soldier fighting claims that his name was his only claim to rank.
Then there was his little sister, Preachy Pine. She was about to leave home once again for another few months. She was a protege who taught lectures in many major parts of the world since she was fourteen. Now being seventeen, she was attending Unova Academy, but currently back home for special circumstances.
Ponder himself was a graduate of Imperium City's Academy. One of the greatest Academies in the region, alongside Lumin’s and Somber's Universities. He was a protege in his own way but preferred a different field.
With a sudden touch of hunger, he got to his feet. Exiting his room, he entered the rest of the presidential suite. It was a large luxurious floor all dedicated to his family.
It had everything he ever needed. Its kitchen for food and preparation. It's lounge for resting and having guests. Its gym for exercise. Its small pool for a refreshing dip. Its spa to loosen up. Its indoor garden for thought. Its library for studying. Its theater for entertainment. Its bathrooms to freshen up. Its trophy room to bask in greatness. Amongst that were other rooms he couldn't exactly remember, but equally important.
Upon exiting his room, the air was different. The scent of rose candles wafted through the room. The lounge in sight and the open kitchen before him. Fancy chandeliers dangle from heights unachievable by touch unless someone leaped from a counter.
