.Chapter Six~ What did you just do?

The delicious sent of food wafted into Avery’s room. Soon enough I was awakened by the heavenly smell and followed it into the kitchen. Sure enough, my best friend was cracking up some breakfast.

I pulled out one of the counter stools and sat down. “Good morning Avery.”

Avery put the spatula down onto the marble counter to reach for her hair tie. Boy was her hair a rat’s nest. But I guess I’m one to talk.

“Morning.” Her voice garbled with her hair tie in her mouth.

“What’s on the agenda?” I asked while propping my hand under my chin.

“Well obviously breakfast first. Then we’re just relaxing till Colton comes home. After that we’ll get ready for the party!”

“When do you think Colton will get home?”

“Don’t get too excited now.” She stuck her tongue out at me. “ I’m guess three or four. And the party starts at eight.”

Okay its twelve now. Just a little while longer and I get to see my hansom deputy. I sighed and smiled sweetly to myself.

“You really love him, don’t you?”

“Avery you have no idea. But please don’t let me gross you out.”

“You know it does, but I still like hearing about you two. Colton never says anything.” Avery licked her pinky. “Breakfast is served! Or make that brunch.”

She whipped up some amazing eggs, French toast, and bacon. And I have to say it tasted just as great as it smelled. Avery scooted into the chair next to me and began to chow down too.

After breakfast Avery said that she needed to pick up a few things from the store. So I decided to clean up the mess we made. I want to keep the house clean for Mr. and Mrs. Gregor. I mean, who wants to come home to a mess? Lemme tell you, no one.

“I’ll be back in a bit. “

“Sounds great. Drive safe!” I replied over my shoulder. Now off to finish these dishes.

I got them done in no time flat and set them out to dry.  Then I went forward to do some laundry. After I finished that, I started tidying around the house .As I did, I saw some movement coming from the back yard. I moved the window curtain to get a better look. It was…. Jayden. Shoveling a pathway in his backyard.

I still felt kind of bad about getting him into trouble. I grabbed the hand towel and left the room that was enveloped with the scent of apples. I made my way to the side door in the family room.
