Chapter 1: Departure x Friends x Hunter Exam

Finally, at that time, the Hunter Exam has yet to be taken by many participants who want to get that license for almost anything they desire. As you may know, the Hunter License ain't just any ordinary license to assume the role of a hunter. It is more than that. Well I wouldn't want to burst your mind with such information, so I'll get to my point. Anyway, you could just search it on the internet.

So back to what I was telling you, the time has come. Well, actually not yet. It was two days ahead and I started preparing stuff because my grandma — who sporadically comes to my home after my mom's death — told me to start preparing. Even if all I needed was my sword. I packed my bag with stuff I don't need at all except for a huge jug of water because water is like my soul mate, like super. And after the packing and mini squabble with her, I bid my farewell and initiated my journey to the Exam Site.

But you may be wondering how I got there, right? Especially that I live in an ice cube-like island, right? Well, I got this boat and rowed for two days on my way towards some harbor that, if my research were correct, would take me to the Exam Site "without worries." This boat was special because no matter how heavy I was, it won't sink. And by that time I was hoping the ship I would be boarding would not sink or something.

When I reached that harbor, there were no people, and it wasn't a surprise to me. I knew that the map I found was a mere trick of some kind, therefore I printed out the correct one before I got on my boat. And yes, I followed the false map because it would be a bore to just follow the right map. I followed that right map and finally verged upon my destination. The harbor was big and it had a mini wet market at the side. Unfortunately, by that time, I still got an hour left 'till the ship I'm suppose to ride on would start sailing away. I was totally clueless of what I would be doing for the past hour, I then thought of getting souvenirs for... well me grandma and me.

But on the way, I bumped into some guy who was wearing all green and his hair was like super glued to the top! My first impression was not really good, especially that he was extremely nice and polite. It freaked me out a bit.

"Ah! Sorry! I wasn't paying attention to where I was going!" I bowed, trying to not pick a fight.

"Ah, that's alright! What brings you here?" his smile creeped me out like I have never seen such boy so happy and shit. But on second thought, I knew we could get along, despite him being so... abnormally gregarious and cheerful.

"Well, I was on my way to a ship on its way to the Hunter Exam. By the way, I'm Kuroshi!" I lied because I wouldn't want to scare the daylights out of him if he knew I was Renzoku Satsujin-han. Plus, if he knew I was, he wouldn't be talking to me right now. Speaking of my title, when I arrived at the harbor, there were some faces who recognized me and moved out of the way, soon gossip spread like how electricity flows and they eventually got scared of me. But that didn't affect me, I just went with the flow and pretend that I am not and never was Renzoku Satsujin-han. Just like an ordinary person waiting for her planned trip.

"Woah, really? I'm going there too! And I'm Gon!" he let out his hand, asking for a shake, I took it gladly and shook it. But when I gripped his hand, OW was the first thing I heard. He shrieked in a not girly way (of course, unless he's gay, which he isn't) and I messed up.

"My, you have some strength for a girl, Kuroshi!" that embarrassed me, but not to the point of blushing. I mean, I never experienced blushing and never know what it felt like. But life's short, so in the near future, I will learn how to blush. And that was weird, how would you 'learn' something that is involuntary? Sigh, carry on.

"Ah, shimatta! Sorry! Does it hurt?" I was used to strong grips that I actually thought was the normal grip for a normal person! I took his hand and examined it, it was nothing special, good. If he hadn't made that sound I might have broken his hand by now — and again, I'm not a normal person living a normal life. He just nodded and I sighed out of relief.
