Reese had been waiting at the lower esplanade sitting patiently at the base of a pillar waiting for that moment that brought flutters in his stomach. And suddenly there she was ascending the stairs
She was about 5'9" and her slender body was very nice to see. Her shoulder-length blond hair swayed slightly as she walked with those nice slender legs. Today she was wearing sports shoes so Reese Everton guessed she had Physical Education lesson today.
As she got closer she noticed him and stared right at him, so he tried to appear as if he was just there for no reason. She had beautiful green eyes with long eyelashes and a long peculiar nose, not ugly but very refined. She smiled at him, or so he thought. He could not say for sure because he turned away waiting for her to pass by.
He did not know what was her name, she appeared to be shy like him and nobody he knew could tell him her name as if she was a nobody. But when he thought it was safe for him to watch again, she was gone with her backpack.
Reese walked a few steps towards the base of the long, 20 step broad staircase that leads to the upper esplanade where the lower level classrooms were located. She was already arriving at the upper end, making her way among all the students that tried to get up there prior to the beginning of the first period.
He tried to make his way up as fast as he could, it was a pleasure to see her every morning even though they had never formally met, not even accidentally. He wanted that to happen but every time he got close to her, something else got in the way or if not, he got paralyzed by fear of her response.
Once Reese arrived at the top of the staircase, he tip-toed and raised his chin scanning the entire esplanade. The forecourt was full of other students, had leafy trees and benches. He saw her and quickly followed. The object of his infatuation was somewhere in the middle where the Junior classrooms were. He elbowed through the mass of students until he got to a place where he could watch her from a safe distance.
There she was again. She was talking with another equally beautiful girl with long legs and dark blond hair. This was not the time to get closer and cut in. Well, most likely even if she was alone he would not dare anyway!
He gave a few tentative steps observing from a few steps above near the handrail but then the bell rang and he, like everybody else, had to get to their respective classrooms.
Reese felt like such a loser! Why did he not have that facility to hook with someone else making stupid chit-chat? He felt so inappropriate. He walked to his classroom marked with another checkmark of disappointment in his long list of attempts.
"Oh God!, can I not get lucky just once, please?" he thought to himself as he was getting near his classroom.
