Reese Everton took his smartphone out of his bag as he walked to the stairway and when he finally looked up he noticed Cristina walking that way too but perpendicular to his path.

She was in the middle of swinging her good leg when she saw him. She tried to slow down to catch his attention. As she did so, the momentum of her initial speed caused her long leg cast to swing forward more that it would, but she managed to balance the dead weight.

"Hey, Cristina! wait for me!" Reese was very excited to see her and rushed to be by her side.

He drew near as she stopped. Despite the obstacle of her crutches, she leaned to her left near his face.

Reese saw her gesture and automatically drew even nearer, cocking his head. As she kissed his right cheek, he looked down at her toes.

«What a pleasant moment! a kiss and those beautiful toes! I am so lucky!» Reese thought.

Cristina wished to see his eyes but they were focused on something else, she realized he was staring at her toes. Her toes stiffened for a short moment, but when she thought about it she let them relax again.

«I would be damned! I like him looking at them!» her face blushed when she thought about it.

"I wish for this cast to be removed from my leg soon! everything is so complicated with this plaster on my leg!" Cristina looked at him, his face still near. She felt a tingling in her body as she looked at his profile.

"Hum, so sorry to disappoint you but you have only been with it for a couple of days." Reese smiled at her. He wanted to be cheeky but in reality he was glad there were still several weeks more to enjoy that sight.

They both realized the had a school bus to catch and headed quickly to the top of the staircase.

"Would you, please?" Cristina looked at Reese with one of her crutches hanging from her left hand.

Reese took her left crutch and watched her hopping on one leg and a crutch while leaning on the hand rail with her left hand. She was going down fast but he pretty much enjoyed watching that lovely plaster cast propped forward as she jumped one stair step at a time.

Unfortunately when they finally reached the lower level, all the buses were already leaving the premises.

"Oh no! there goes my bus!" Cristina whined.

Reese saw her bus accelerating out of the parking area. Then he noticed he was still in time to catch his bus, which was still in the queue to get out to the main road. Instinctively he took a step forward in the direction of the bus, and then he realized he would rather be with her rather than being in that bus thinking about missed opportunities.

"Are you going to leave this poor one-legged girl with only one crutch?" Cristina pursed her lips in the direction of her crutch that was still in Reese's hand.

He was mesmerized by the pursed lips of the girl with the plaster cast that had given him an unexpected kiss a few minutes ago. Suddenly, the sight of those lips made him wish to kiss them. He imagined getting closer and pressing his lips against hers, and maybe she would tap his leg with her plaster cast as well.

"Hello! are you still there?" Cristina said, "I cannot stand here on one leg forever."

Reese smiled back and handed her the crutch and from the corner of his eye he could see his bus leaving the school.

"It appears as if we have both lost our ride, Cristina"

"Yes, it seems so," Cristina hobbled to a corner near the 5-step stair leading down to the parking and sat down making sure not to hit her leg cast.
