It was called "The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight" and while I love a good young adult romance novel every now and then, this one just seemed to be calling out to me. Plus, it was kind of interesting how the summary on the back bases it in an airport, which I'm in right now. I guess you could classify this as an impulse buy, but it's okay. I paid for the book and a bag of chex mix at the counter and put them into my backpack, leaving the store and standing just outside of it looking for Alyssa. She wasn't waiting outside of the security area where I last saw her, so maybe she's at the gate. I pulled my boarding pass out of my unaccompanied minors pouch and looked at the gate. A6. I looked up at the gate signs that were displayed high so people could see and saw that A6 was only three gates down on my right. I stuffed the boarding pass back into my pouch as I started making my way to the gate. "Hailey!!" I turned around to see Alyssa jogging towards me. "How in the world did you get passed me? I just went looking for you in the bookstore and the lady said you left. Were you in there this entire time?"
"Yeah, I just left. I didn't see you outside security, so I thought I'd go ahead and go to the gate." I replied as we kept walking.
"I honestly don't know how I missed you. I just left the gate seeing that you weren't there and went to find you," she laughed, looking at me. "let's just hope the Mitchell kids didn't leave, cause then we'd have an issue."
I could feel myself already begin to dread staying with Alyssa the entire flight, not because of her, she's pretty cool. But that fact that she said that the other unaccompanied minors were kids. I know how kids can get on flights and man if they're anything like the other kids I've shared flights with...then this is going to be a long five hours. "So will I be sitting with you and the other unaccompanied minors?"
"No, I'll be sitting with the flight attendants. It's a possibility that you could be sitting with the other two, but it's all up to your seat on your tickets. But don't worry, I'll be checking up on you throughout the flight to make sure everything is okay." She replied, giving me a friendly smile as we strolled up to the gate and the woman at the desk pulled the mic away from the side of the wall near the boarding pass check up to her. "Ah, looks like we're just in time for boarding."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to flight 1557 here at gate A6, a non-stop flight to Costa Rica. We'd like to start boarding those who need assistance, who have young children and unaccompanied minors."
"That's you, go ahead and stay here and I'll go get the other two kids." Alyssa smiled, patting my shoulder and walking off to the seats off to the side. I stood my place in line, allowing an elderly woman in a wheelchair to go ahead of me as I got my boarding pass out of the pouch, unfolding it and holding it in my hand. I slipped one backpack strap off of my shoulder and unzipped it, reaching it and grabbing my headphones, placing them around my neck. Just in case I'm unfortunately seated by these two kids, I need to have my headphones ready to block out any nonsense noise they could make. "Ah good, right where I left you," Alyssa said, as I zipped my backpack back up. "Hailey, this is Zach and Gray Mitchell, they'll be on your flight."
