"lacey! lacey-mae! the snowball dance is today!" jane jumped on me and i groaned, rolling over and shoving my face in the pillow.

"what time is it?" i sigh.

"6, we need to get ready!"

"jane hopper, the dance is at 8 at night. it's 6 in the morning. i come home at 2:30 and we can go out and find something to wear tongiht, okay?" i wrapped my arms around the girl and she snuggled her head under my chin.

"okay. do you have to go to school today?"

"yes, and i also have to chaperone the dance" i face palm "i have to chaperone with nancy too"

"isn't nancy steve's ex-girlfriend"

"yes. she broke his heart"

we laid in silence for a bit, just listening to dad's footsteps and the birds outside of the window.

"come on, lacey, get up and get dressed"

"pops, can i stay home today? jane and i have to get ready for the snowball"

"that's not until later, lacey"

"i know, but i'm watching over it and jane needs something the wear. please, pop?" i poked out my bottom lip and gave him puppy eyes. he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"alright, fine"

"yes!" jane and i high fived.

"i love you pops" he came over and kissed us both on the head.

"i love you girls too"

he left and as jane and i got up to get breakfast, the phone started to ring and i held it between my shoulder and ear as i cooked the eggs.

"hopper residence"

"princess! am i picking you up today? good morning, by the way"

"good morning to you too handsome. no, actually, i'm staying home and going shopping with my little sister"

"jane? oo, can i come? she seems fun?"

"no, you can't come with us" i laugh and give jane her waffles, bacon and eggs.

"why not?" i could hear his pout over the phone.

"billy can come with us" jane said throwing on a flannel. i smile as i hear billy whisper, 'yes!'

"alright! i'll see you two soon"

i hung up the phone and got dressed in a skirt and a sweater, and put on some mascara.

"can i wear make up tonight?"

"we're gonna doll you up today, babe!"

jane and i sat at the table with our plates and the tv playing the flintstones. we hear the rev of billy's car engine and we rush and throw out our food, putting our plates in the sink. i grab my purse and threw jane's hair into two space buns.

"so no one knows it's you" i wink and she nods. we head outside and billy is leaning against his car. i speed walk to him and he holds my waist, kissing me.

"god i've been wanting to do that for so long" he whispered and i laughed.

"i just saw you yesterday" i scrunch my eyebrows and laugh.

"yes, but you're just so beautiful i can't help wanting to kiss you every second of every day" he smiles and kisses me again. jane clears her throat and we pull away. "jane.. how you doing, curly?"
